In the tender slice between light and dark Lies a moment, a fragment of time A piece of a life While the stars catch up As the sun takes a rest And I catch my breath So long the wait for the passing of day To slip with bliss into the night And welcome the light Of sympathetic stars Soothing aches, taming fervent hopes Of an obsessive heart How stark the light of newly lit stars Piercing a path to an unknown mark An attempt to reveal, alas to unveil That hidden beneath The shell of the day Yet present and past seen easily by the light The future dimmed for just the moment But forgotten not As starlight must forgive The intrusion of day So must the future
