There once was a man
Dedicated you see
He had a life
A wife & family
Friends were in masses
Wealthy in land
His disposition was happy
His soul filled to the brim
He had faith in all things told
He believed in words not yet seen
He prayed to his God
Diligently
Thanking him for his blessings
His health & family
Then the day did arrive
When things when awry
One by one he lost everything
Not knowing why
His children all died, in such a tragic way
Friends turned their backs
Gossiping amongst themselves
That his God no longer saw him in favor
His lands were all lost and his cattle too
He had nothing left but boils
And ashes too
As he writhed in pain
Praying to his God
Never giving up, keeping the faith
His wife looked at him pitifully
She did disclaim, “Why don’t you curse God and die?”
He said, “Not this day”
I will not be forsaken
He has a plan
He kept on praying
Each and every day
No matter the trials that came his way
God heard his cries and felt his tears
He rewarded him for his endurance
In every and all things
He abounded more wealth than ever before
He was blessed with children
Cherishing them more
His friends were both old and new
From miles and miles around
His wife saw the benefit
His beliefs did gain
She respected her husband
For holding fast, thru his pain
Now in case you do not know
Of whom I spoke
He has a book in his name
Within the good book
If you take a moment
To read of his woes
You’ll realize
Yours are not so bad
You know
So flip thru the pages
Find the book of Job
You’ll find the man
Who inspired my prose….
