Kelly K. Sweet "Yesterday's Song"
© 1997-2004 Kelly K. Sweet
Yesterday's songs
All we sing
Of memories held dear
Friendships remembered for
All of these years
Time holds no meaning
Childhood stares back from mirrored eyes
Yesterday's songs playing along
In your heart filling your mind
For a few moments in peace
To remember a time
A time when dreams
Could be anything
When first friendships were made
When you marveled at the wonder of the world
Yesterday's songs swirling around
As alone you dance
To the music only you hear
Your first dance
Your first kiss
The youth and innocence of yesterday
When the music played
And you always listened
For a new song a new beat
When yesterday's music plays.
