Jerry Riches "Atlantic Eyes"
© 2002-2004 Jerry Riches
She has Atlantic eyes, so help me, she does. You'll see: The silvery, shimmering grey of sea and swell. On the Banks, perhaps, or out near the Stream. Reflected there are gales, 60 knot winds, cold pelting spray. Foam. Curling, leaping; And. See the fog bank closing. Ghosting in, silent and damp, shrouding her spirit. What mysteries hide in those Atlantic eyes? How can we help her name her dreams, breathe life into the longing there? She glides through our lives. Soft, remote and lovely. Only the sea knows her. Speak to us, Atlantic eyes. Clear the mists away, love, let us know you again.
