There was a time when my heart was light,
Little adventures taking me to a new height.
Riddles to solve, secrets to share,
A time with no heavy burdens to bear.
Bedtime stories of Dr. Seuss,
Sharing time with Mother Goose.
Little eyes closing in sleep with rhyme,
Then one day entered old Father Time.
He told me there's no Santa, no Easter Bunny,
Most important in life, is to make money.
Put me on a schedule said I mustn't depart,
From Dr. Seuss he'll never lure my heart.
These treasures, in my heart will stay,
And Father Time can't take them away.
They give me another world to see,
And teach my imagination to run free.
