Pearlie Duncan Walker's "Our Soldier Boy Went Home Today"
© 2003 by Pearlie Duncan Walker

What can we say? We are grieved... bereaved, in a saddened way
We are so proud of our Soldier Boy... but he went home today.
He served his Country... he followed the orders... that many Soldiers do...
Our Country calls... and there they go... a duty to perform so true.

He now rests in the sweet arms of Jesus... he will await us there...
But, today, we know not what to say... we go to God in Prayer.
He is in the realms, above the sky... maybe singing a Psalm of joy...
We loved him so... and will miss him much... this, our Soldier Boy.

Who could cheer one of us up more... who could pray a Prayer?
All who knew him would say look to George over there.

A loving husband... friend... to his wife... loved his children with joy
But we would have expected nothing but the best... he was our Soldier boy.
He went home today... to live in a mansion built not with hands
But with the Glory of the Father and to sing with the Angel bands.

In our lives there’s a time to weep and a time to mourn...
There’s a time to kill, and a time to heal. A time to die, and a time to be, born.

This man was born with honor and he was born to do his duty and to love.
He was born again unto Jesus and is waiting there for us... up above.
He will be in the hearts of family… and friends forever, with joy...
Let us never forget the happiness he brought... this our Soldier boy.

We Love you George
