Jon Christopher Sulek "Maelstrom"
© 1998-2004 Jon Christopher Sulek
A maelstrom builds up in my heart
Whipping round and round with no relent
The churning, burning, violent storm
Must pass before true love's ascent

It started with a silent wind
Building slowly upon the changing tide
And as it grew, a gale did form
A deafening howl from deep inside

A rain began in hollow drops
That dimmed my soul's bright inner light
And as I turn into myself
I stand alone this lover's night

The sands of time do scar my face
And as the storm builds to it's peak
The waves do crash, the wind does push
At all the ports my heart would seek

A maelstrom lives within my heart
Whipping round and round with no remorse
A storm that cannot be escaped
It leads me from love's truer course.
