Winter Holidays: December 21st- First Day of Winter, December 23rd- Xmas Eve December 25th- Xmas Day December 26th- Boxing Day December 31st- New Years Eve January 1st- New Years Day |
~Make fun Snow Angels outside together (lie on the snow, make an imprint with your head, another by spreading your legs out, and another 2 by waving your arms up and down!), and snowmen then go dry off infront of a logfire:) ~Collect lumps of snow (use gloves so you dont get coldy hands) and stick it and smooth it onto a brick wall (it may work on a wooden one, not so sure though), you pack it together until its like ice and it should stay there for quite sometime, and using this make sweet/sexy little messages/pictures for your babe to see when they come outside or come home:) ~Leave them an envelope (or post them one) with a twig of mistletoe inside and a note saying "Save this for me for later" ;)! ~Go to an outdoor skating rink together (please make sure its a safe one!), even if you are both rubbish skaters, its an excuse to hold on closely:) ~Decorate the windows and mirrors in the house/room with snow spray (not the cheapy stuff that wont come off though hehe)and maybe write a little message for them to see:) ~Why not even decorate their whole house or room while they are out with xmas decorations, twinkly lights, holly and mistletoe, to put them in a happy festive mood when they return:) |
*Ideas for Xmas/Winter Romance* |
~Be a Xmas Angel/Fairy and grant then some wishes :) ~Go to a carol service together, even if you aren't religious, the festivities and atmosphere can be really enchanting and romantic! ~Be extravagant and hire a small choir to sing your loved ones favourite carol outside their window/front door, or if you can't stretch that far, why not ask a few (in tune) friends to do you the favour:)! ~Do some Baking! (mince pies, coconut maroons, xmas cake, Gingerbread-snow men, etc... |
~ Visit a Xmas Market together, in your local town or travel somewhere else for a change :). See what bargains and items you can pick up for presents and decorations! ~Secretly buy tickets, an outfit for them, and whisk them off to a Xmas/Winter dinner dance, meal or party one evening!!! Very spontaneous and romantic! (make sure that nights free in their diary first!) |

If you are in an LDR this Xmas; Ofcourse being apart from your loved one, especially at Xmas and the New Year is extremely hard :( and can take the edge off of the celebrations and make things feel less special, however here are a few ideas to really help cheer up your LDR lover and make your Xmas' still wonderfull and memorable! |

~If it is at all humanly possible why not meet up for Xmas or the New Year?! If not on those specific days then sometime around the holidays...if money is a problem then why not try and split the cost, or try a last minute deal? Im sure it would make an amazing holiday if you could be together :)! ~If you are separated on xmas day, why not call them up xmas morning, let them know you are thinking of them, even if there is a time difference, set your clocks early and be there when they wake up with a cute call:) |

~Why not unwrap your presents together over the phone, or even better, over a webcam! Taking it in turns, and really being able to hear that how much they love their gifts will be a wonderful part of the day! ~You could both burn a candle, to symbolise the presence of your loved one there with you through the holiday season, thinking of them and knowing they have a candle lit for you too will be of some comfort! |
~Buy them a xmas/romantic music box, you know, the one with a cute display, where you wind it up and it plays a sweet little melody/lullaby?! Then when they feel lonely they can listen to the tune and remember you... ~When posting your loved ones cards and xmas parcel, don't forget to find out in advance the deadline for xmas mail (in order to ensure it gets there in time for xmas day!) particularly if it will be an international mail! I did that last year and mailed it 4days b4 the deadline (about 1month b4 xmas) but he still didnt get it until Boxing Day:( and it was really dispointing for me that he didn't get it on time, so be warned, POST EARLY!!) ~Read winter tales or books to one another down the phone/webcam! |

Xmas Gift Ideas: ~ But them a xmas decoration for their tree, or room, then, even if the two of you can't be together for Xmas you can still share the festive spirit, plus, its soemthing that will come out every year and remind you of that Xmas, and your time together :) |
~Create your own CD/tape of Xmas songs and give it to your loved one :) ~ Why not keep your loved one cosy this Winter by making them a patchwork winter quilt?!!! Collect a few sheets of material from the market, in their fave/teams colours, and then make the patches and sew together, you could even use old denim jeans to cut up and make a funky cover from!!! :) They'll love it!! ~You could getaway for the weekend, go to a cabin/cottage with a real log fire, or a special Xmas villiage or seasonally themed getaway in a hotel, many travel agents arrange these types of holidays. If you are feeling flash you could even go to Lapland, Scotland, Alaska, or Canada and see some REAL reindeer!!!! :) ~But them a bouquet of Winter flowers, or a Poinsettia plant (it has a a red xmas flower!) or make your own bouquet using holly, misteltoe, pinecone branches etc! ~Make a homemade Advent calender for them!!! Put little chocolates, gifts, poems, pictures etc behind each of the windows, and dont forget a special one for Xmas Day :)!!Give it to them on January 1st to start :) ~Do your own variation on the "Twelve Days of Xmas" carol, by say giving her a pear on the first day, 2 Dove Icecreams for the second day etc lol...hehe but be original and innovative so they cant guess whats coming the next day :) ~Buy them a calender for the new year ahead, not only a very useful and practical gift but also signifies that you plan a year and more ahead by their side :) awww! You could even fill in special dates on it already, such as birthdays, anniversaries, vacations, trips etc, and maybe your own special message to them for that month :) |

~Make extra special effort on the wrapping and presentation of the gifts!! It really does make a difference. Nice paper, bows, ribbons, gift bags, tissue paper etc, all look great! If you arent too handy yourself why not ask a friend to help, or most stores even offer a gift wrap service for free or a small charge! ~ Make them their own special xmas hamper, decorate a whicker basket with Hershey Kisses, or choclate tree decorations, and tinsel, and then put in it all their fave foods and drink :) |
Especially good idea if they are living away from you and there are foods you have access to they can't get where they are (but obviously be sure to get foods that are well sealed and wont go off or get damaged if you are sending them airmail! and be warned of food restrictions from the UK after the Foot and Mouth crisis here :P) |
Make your own eggnog!: Ingredients: 1egg, 1tbsp caster sugar, 1/4 tsp vanilla i cup of milk nutmeg (brandy, rum etc optional if u like a bit of that hehe) Recipe: Beat the egg with the sugar and salt, and then pour it into a glass and add the vanilla and the milk, and stir until well mixed! Grate some nutmeg on top and add your tipple if you'd prefer :) |
What is Boxing Day? Celebrated mainly in the UK, Europe and Canada, Boxing Day is also known as St Stephen's Day, where traditionally in old times, presents for Xmas would be handed to the poor/lower classes and servants etc by the middle classes (very snobby really) but then progressed to represent doing good for those less well off, charities etc... and also as St Stephen is patron saint of Horses, Boxing Day is traditionally a day of foxhunts:P (yuck) and horse races etc, But it really just means an extension of the Xmas holiday to most people (and a chance to eat all those Turkey dinner leftovers, and the start of all the manic rush to the Xmas sales in the shops...eeeekk!! :) |
