My Science Olympiad experience began in 7th grade in 1997-98. In that I got very fond of naked egg drop and reach for the stars. I'm not very good at either of them, but I have saved a few eggs in the naked egg drop before! It's just to bad they got rid of Naked egg drop, it was really cool. Nowadays they got Budgie egg drop but I don't like that one as much. Reach for the stars is a little hard. You got to learn all of the constellations,stars, and equations then hope the ones you don't know don't pop up on the test. But for Reach for the stars you have to know almost everything about space and stuff! I think I'm getting better though I did place in 20th last time I was in it! In 7th grade no one placed in anything. Also something I shall never forget is that, either in 7th or 8th grade Ionia almost burned down Malcolm community College(figuratively speaking). We had one project that was called Mission possible. In mission possible you are supposed to build a box with a bunch of chemical reactions. Well Ionia created a reaction alright, a big one, a explosion. If it wasn't for Ionia Acetone would Never be underlined and bolded for the not to use section in mission possible! That year Ionia found out very quickly how fast acetone blows up! :-)
I then rejoined S.O in 8th grade 1998-99 .I got a little better and from help from the team, we went to States. States is the second competition of S.O. The first you go into is Regional's, then states, then for the finals, You got to Nationals.In 8th grade if I remember right we went to states in 3rd place but we never made it any further. I was determined to try at it again so I eventually rejoined again in 9th grade.
For me 9th grade was last year, 1999-2000.Right now I am in 10th grade. S.O has not yet started for this season. In 9th grade, the Ionia high school broke Many records. For the first Time EVER, Ionia High school went to states. With also going to states Every member on the team (counting me) Won at least 1 medal at regional's. For that we got to go to states in the luxury of 2nd place. At regionals I won 3rd place with my event partner Andy Gomez in Write it do it. I believe I shall regain that title of 3rd place again this year! At states we only won 1 medal. That was in Bottle rockets. 6th place was given to Aron sphrege and Greg Strikling. That was also a first. My Science Olympiad team for the year 1999-2000 will always be remembered in Ionia High school history.
Ionia middle school for the year 1999-2000 did not make it to states at all. At the end of 1999-2000, Ionia High school got away with 38th place out of 40. Ohwell esta es vida(that's life).
