Since Elementary school Mr Scrooge-then Deon Towles- knew he was meant to be a performer. By the time he could read and write, Scrooge was already rapping. His budding skills captured small audiences wherever he went and the quiet hope of becoming a reconizable artist in the music Industry did seem so far feteched. As a young teen, Scrooge hit the studios and worked at his rapping with older artist trying to make their break onto the music scene; but at the age of 16 Scroooge's focus slipped to the streets rather than the studio. Although he was gaining recongition and an enthusiastic following, the money was tight and the streets proved to be more profitable. a turning point came at the age of 18, when his cousin, Kev Money, dropped a CD Called The Come Up and featured Mr Scrooge on one of the tracks. After reconizable contribution to such a professionly finished product, Scrooge realized that rapping was not a fad and new life was breathed into his own attempt to get his career started. Scrooge tightend up his material, performed at a couple of high profile showes, and made some contacts. He rocked shows with Twista, Do Or Die, UGK, PSK-13,Cash Money, and Adina Howard. Yet, even some great performances and some months of diligence to his craft, no 'real' breaks surfaced. Still hard-core in the streets, Scrooge wound up in the state penitentiary system. This 30 month set back turned into his set up. It laid the foundation for the building of what was to become Ebanezza's Empire. The State penitentiary is where Scrooge recongnized  the payoffs for showing his abilities. Out of all the other 'Cats' from around the state, Scrooge woke up to the request to hear him rap. His lyrical themes were favored because his style expresses a strong poit of view with elaborately detailed messages of advice to popular subjects full of no doubt descriptions. He became king of the 'joint' when it came to rapping. His peers ensured their daily dose of offering their prized commissary goods. the profitability of rap became obvious, not to mention the increase sense of humor and security with such a huge following . Being on top of the penitentiary redirected Scrooge's focus and he began to make plans to take the real rap scene by storm when he was released. Scrooge was released in December of 1999 and in Febuary of 2000 found himself invited to open E-40's and Too Short's Rap Gumbo Concert that was held in the Quad Cities' 12,000-seat concert facility. Scrooge was the first local rap artist to get on stage at the Mark Of The Quad Cities. He was so excited by this invitation that he walked from his home in Rock Island to the concert site in Moline. Within the next twenty months, Scrooge opened concerts for Juvinile, MJG & Eight Ball. he also dropped his first CD and is looking forward to being one of the hottest commodities in the rap market.
