Aliens in our own land

We the People of the South are an oddity in the social structure of this nation in that we never seem to fit in with whatever is the latest social fad running rampant in the rest of the nation. We always seem to be a culture all our own, separate and distinct. Our roots are deep in the soil of the Southland, and for very good reasons. Unlike the rest of the people of the U.S. who seem happier without roots, who flow like sand with whatever wind is blowing. We are bound to our homeland by an irresistible force many of us see simply as a natural part of our lives. A force that says "Resist throwing away the Culture that is your birthright, a birthright bought with the blood and tears of your Ancestors". A stubborn sense of what is the right and wrong way for us to live. We are taught to respect the old, their wisdom, and their way of life. We are taught to love the young and their promise for the future and to try to show them right from wrong. We find comfort in the love of family and friends and the time shared with them. We still see God as alive and well and living deep within our hearts. Yes, there are many who live here who do not fit, nor want to fit, into my analogy of the Southern People. Some are foolish enough to think that by converting to the "mindless mob" mentality that they will be allowed to join the ranks of those shallow people, when, in reality, they simply become a joke to both. They think that the People are foolish to hold to their "old fashioned" ideals. Are they right? I don't think so. I do know that I am not at peace living any other way. I think there are a good number of the People out there who feel as I do. Then there are those who have moved here and found our lifestyle to be like a homecoming.  And of course, there are those who think it to be their ordained duty, or privilege, to come here to show us the error of our lifestyle and guide us toward true "correctness". I have found good people all over this land but most are not aware of the truth about our People. Mainly they cannot understand our conviction, our devotion, to the "ancient history"of the South. I found this to be because they have never heard the Southern side of the story. I have seen enough to think that, if these good people could know the truth, their sentiment against us would turn around. I know that those who profit from our persecution will rant, rave and fight in every way they can think of to keep us as outcastes. To the open mind this behavior alone should indicate something is amiss.  In any event, I am putting the truth out there. I cannot possibly put everything into this essay. I am simply attempting to give enough of an overview to arouse curiosity in the reader and inspire them to deeper investigation. The truth is there once one peels back all the layers of whitewash covering it up. Providing of course, the reader has the courage to deal with the truth and those who vehemently deny it. Regardless of who they are.
