  1. Glorifies God  (Acts2:47)
  2. Shares the message of Jesus Christ (and grows!)  (Acts 1:8; 2:37-41)
  3. Grows in unity and maturity (Ephesians 4:11-16)
  4. Works together as one unit, not in tribal factions (Acts 2:42ff; 1 Corinthians 12:12, 27)
  5. Cares for others (even undesirables!) (James 1:26-27; Matthew 18:3, 6, 10; 19:13-15; 11:18-19)
  6. Promotes selfless and righteous leadership (1 Timothy 3:1-3; Titus 1:6-9; Acts 6:3; Matthew 23:1-4)
  7. Gives room to other styles, ways of doing (Romans 14:1, 4, 10, 13, 19)
  8. Lovingly disciplines its members in sin (1 Corinthians 5:1-8; 2 Corinthians 2:5-11)
  9. Follows the law of love (1 Corinthians 13:1-13)
