Resources to have on Corporate Repentance

When we mention corporate repentance, we sometimes immediately get questions like these:

"Why dig up those old bones?"
Answer: Leviticus 26:40-42, 45

"Why should I repent for something that happened long ago?"
Answer: Proverbs 18:19

"I am not responsible for those terrible events of history."
Answer: Numbers 35:33-34

"There's no way we can change history anyway. Those old things are too painful."

Answer: Isaiah 49:8-9; 2 Samuel 21:1, 14; Daniel 9

"What's the point? We're in the New Testament. All of that is now under the Blood. Everything is under the Blood and taken care of."
Answer:  John 3:18; Genesis 4:8-10; Hebrews 12:24

IDENTIFICATIONAL REPENTANCE

Whether it is Sin Between Individuals that is not dealt with through forgiveness or repentance for
A Day . . . A Month . . . A Year . . . 30 Years

or whether it is Sin Between Groups which is not dealt with through forgiveness or repentance for A Day . . . 50 Years . . . 8 Generations

It is still sin.
SIN IS SIN. TIME IS IRRELEVANT
When sin gets involved in groups over time, the result is iniquity, the effect of sin over time on groups of people.

IDENTIFICATIONAL REPENTANCE

Responsible spiritual mapping will frequently uncover sins of a nation or city which have been committed in the past, sometimes generations ago, and which have become strongholds of the forces of darkness, allowing them to keep multitudes in physical misery and spiritual captivity. When we corporately confess those sins of our nation through what many are calling "identificational repentance, they can be remitted through Jesus' blood shed on the cross, and the strongholds can be removed. God's people then can take back the place we have given to the Enemy, God's Spirit of grace can bring healing, and unsaved people can be open to receiving the "light of the Gospel of the glory of Christ" (2 Cor 4:4). No aspect of warfare prayer is more important than identificational repentance.

NUCLEAR SPIRITUAL WARFARE  Jeremiah 50:25
The following ways of spiritual warfare are nuclear in a sense in the spirit realm.  Similar to an enemy's inability to retaliate after a nuclear detonation, the enemy of our souls is not able to retaliate when we use these weapons.

How to Wage Spiritual War through Corporate Repentance

EXAMPLE:

STATEMENT OF APOLOGY TO KANSAS

I confess my own responsibility and that of the state of South Carolina, my ancestral home of Laurens County, and my family in contributing to the rape of Kansas in the 1850's.

1- State my connection, therefore my authority to confess (Neh 9:2.)

I confess that my native state of South Carolina (in which my relatives settled 230 years ago) outfitted and sent settlers to sway politics in Kansas for our own self-interests and participated in the bloodshed, rapine, and destruction of Kansas.

2- Confess plainly the sin committed by my people. (Neh 1:7)

I confess that Laurens County, SC, in which I reside, formed the Laurens District Kansas Association in 1854, and under command of General A. Crane Jones sent a group of Laurens men to Kansas to help counteract Northern influence and help determine that Kansas would enter the Union as a slave state.

3- Confess from researched facts & not hearsay or sentimentalism.
(
Dan 9:2; Neh 9:3)

I confess my own family's responsibility in regard to Kansas.  During the debate over "Bleeding Kansas" in the United States Senate, my first cousin (five generations removed), Congressman Preston Smith Brooks of South Carolina, caned Senator Charles Sumner of Massachusetts in the Senate chambers in order to avenge family honor.  This family honor, however, was merely outright pride.

4- Drawing the concentric circle of repentance as small as possible brings freedom to my family, self, & hearers.
(Neh 1:6;
Dan 9:8)

I confess the sins of influence peddling and political manipulation; our hatred and fear of the North and of Republicans; the desire to use Kansas for our own self-interests; our use of violence, fear, death, and secret societies against Kansas; and I confess the shedding of innocent blood.

5- Confess iniquitous sin and patterns including innocent bloodshed which defiles the land. (Lev 18:25)

These sins rise as a great stench before the Lord, and I apologize for them, renounce them, and turn away from them.  I ask your forgiveness and for the Lord's for these sins and further ask His removal by His Blood of the iniquities and curses connected with them, bringing cleansing, purity, wholeness, and life everlasting in their place.

6- Repent & ask forgiveness of Kansans & the Lord.  Only Christians can effectively apply the blood of Jesus.
(Jn 20:23; 1 Jn 1:9)

"This is what the LORD says:
'In the time of my favor I will answer you,
    and in the day of salvation I will help you;
I will keep you and make you to be
    a covenant for the people,
    to restore the land and
    to reassign its desolate inheritances,
to say to the captives, ‘Come out,'
and to those in darkness, ‘Be free!'"
    (Isaiah 49:8-9 NIV)

7- Quoting to the Lord His Word is powerful and effective, reminding everyone in the spirit realm of the permanence of the Word. (1 Pet 1:24-25; Neh 1:8-9)
