Thrust of passage:  Thanksgiving in prayer
The prayer is framed by the mention of "God Our Father," (Old Covenant) verse 2, and "our Lord Jesus Christ," (New Covenant) verse 3.
  1. WORK produces by FAITH
    1. ergon (deed, action)
  2. LABOR prompted by LOVE
    1. kopon (toll, difficulty); agape (selfless love)
  3. ENDURANCE inspired by HOPE
    1. hupomone (abide under, picture of mule under a load)
    2. Hope in the return of Christ, an integral part of our faith
FAITH, HOPE, and LOVE are our motivations for evangelism: 1 Corinthians 13:13

PRINCIPLES:
  1. The best evidence that the Word has been heard is that it is being shared.
  2. Evidence of real conversion are the three points above.
