Commended for bravery for the Battle of Shiloh
2nd Lieutenant Daniel James Stout
Forced to resign his commission due to illness he contracted at Camp Boyle in Adair Co.  It affected him throughout his life, a condition for which he eventually received a disabled veterans pension.
