Vantine is probably the most unique of all of the names that I am researching. This is because the name "Vantine" and all of it's variations, such as Van Tyne, Vandine, etc. originated on this continent, and not in Europe. The name was derived from Fonteyn. Carel Fonteyn came from France to New Amsterdam in 1658 aboard a Dutch ship. Over the years, the pronunciation, and spelling of the name became Vantine, (and the many variations) Because of this, it seems that all Vantine researchers that I have met over the years can trace their roots back to Carel Fonteyn. So, if you are a Vantine descendant: Welcome cousin!
