Need help researching in Lenawee??
Research Assistance is handled by a committee of helpers, all monitor the email address given below.

Please limit your questions to simple lookups, and to 1 core family group.

BEFORE you contact us, please do your census work on the family you are curious about.  Our volunteers do not do census work.

If you have contacted other resources/researchers, mail lists, etc. asking for assistance, please give them one month to get back to you before you contact us.  Many of our helpers also monitor the Lenawee County mail list and GENWEB sites and answer those requests.  Contact only one of us at a time please, so we don't have several volunteers chasing all over the county doing the same work.

May we also suggest you look over all these web sites for help BEFORE you contact us:

Lenawee County GENWEB
This site has an amazing amount of information, spend some time there.

Genealogical Death Indexing System (GENDIS)
Index to deaths in Michigan, 1867 to at least 1884

FamilySearch Labs
This wonderful site has Michigan Marriages 1868 - 1925, Michigan Deaths 1867 - 1897 and Michigan Births 1867- 1902.  It is wonderfully indexed and there are IMAGES!!  Please note, this is considered a PILOT site, and at times some records may not be available.

SeekingMichigan
New, still uploading, Death records/certificates from 1897 to 1920.

A donation for lookups is always appreciated, it will go into our general fund.  Costs, such as postage and copies, will be the responsibility of the researcher requesting assistance.  As an extra benefit for those that donate we will also publish the surnames you are researching with your contact information in our newsletter.

Our members may or may not be in a position to help those in need of extensive research.  Any agreement between you the researcher and our members for extensive research will be a private matter between the parties.  Remember volunteers have families and jobs and the same responsibilities we all have, your patience and understanding is appreciated.

For help and limited lookups, after you have exhausted the suggested sites above, please contact:

Comments about this page
It seems there has been considerable confusion about any connections between the Lenawee County GENWEB page and the Lenawee County Family Researchers home page.  You are at the home page of the Lenawee County Family Researchers.  See above for a link to the Lenawee County GENWEB page.  These are two separate groups, two separate entities.  We share our interest in Lenawee County and family history.  We both are here to help family researchers, specifically Lenawee County family researchers.  We do cooperate with each other and have links to each others pages.  We even share members.  However, we do not sponsor the Lenawee County GENWEB nor do they sponsor the Lenawee County Family Researchers.  We both wish you Happy Researching!
