About Paul West, Author |
??ABOUT PAUL WEST Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, I claim to be a "prune picker" through and through, though I now make my home in West Jordan, Utah The rustic San Francisco Bay Area countryside, the quaint small towns in which I grew up, the colorful people with whom I lived, have all teamed to fertilize my ever-churning mind with stories that are yearning to be told. From my earliest days in high school, my English teachers kept seeing some kind of raw writing ability in me, both for fection and non-fiction and urged me to pursue a writing career. In college too, I took several creative writing courses and the professors urged me to continue molding that ability into a talent, which I'm still working to achieve. After I'd settled on a career as an environmental biologist, where I've written numerous techinical publications, the stories swarming though my head kept crying to get out, so I began writing fiction again, but only as a hobby at first. However, after several years of working and learning the craft, I finally finished The Bridge Beckons, but I intend to keep letting my stories out though future novels. Currently, I'm working on a new novel titled GLENNA! It's a story about how a popular young man learns to love the unlovable. Hopefully, it should be finished soon. I'm a member of several writing and critique groups. My favorite ones are Writers by Design, Writers Pen critique group, Razor's Edge Writers, and Writers4Writers. In addition to my writing, I love spending time with my wife, our four children and soon to be three grandchildren. Some of my other hobbies include gardening, reading, family history research. Take a look at the link to The Bridge Beckons and let me know what you think. |
