~ ...and it came up red by mathilda ~ ~sirius/remus, angst, first pov~
play on words. meep. this is remus's steam of conciousness which is very well written, so much so that you can follow it perfectly. it's really too short for its own good as it displays the amount of trust and love and just how much he staked on sirius black.

~ duality by j. marie ~ ~bill/omc, angst, series~
i can't really say what prompted me to go look for bill weasley fic, but i actually found the precursor to this story first. and that was good, but i like this story better. it's more standalone and i simply love j. marie's narrative style. i like flipping back and forth in time, comparing past and present moments with fluidity that doesn't seem a cheap flashback but a valid memory. it simply lends so much to the piece. it's one of those self discovery/love stories but with a few subtle twists, or perhaps just magical metaphors. the background characters flesh out the piece and make it more well rounded. it's all around solid and enjoyable.

~ far too good series by mathilda ~ ~remus/snape, sirius/remus, angst, bdsm, series~
eee! i like these stories, yay! they're dark and ughers, and set during the whole war with voldemort but it's so cool the subtle role that snape plays as he fights for both sides. there's present snape/remus mookiness that i'm just not a shipper for, but i love her take on sirius and her take on snape, and damn it, her malfoy simply owns! can you tell i'm a fan yet? i love the extremes of the characters, while the content/plot is hardly everyones cup of tea, it's just wonderful snapshots of imagination gone wild and i wish they were longer.
notable series stories: far too good at being bad, a rock and a hard place, bang

~ of linen by ballyharnon ~ ~sirius/remus, remus/omc, angst, series, substance abuse, suicidal themes~
when i first came across this fic i latched on to it tightly and never wanted to let go. upon re-reading it, i find it good, enjoyable but don't like it as much as i did the first time. i don't like every aspect of the series nor every original charcter, but at the time this fic was everything needed to rekindle my interest because i found most of the fandom stangant. this one flowed. it has interesting and unique takes on the characters (remus especially) and the wizarding world itself. it's such a breath of fresh air and well written to boot. bally's original characters do litter the story like there's no tomorrow and there's not so much of a plot outside of remus and sirius rebuilding their relationship, but there's nothing wrong with that. *nods firmly*

~ sonnet 17 by mieko ~ ~sirius/remus~
while this isn't that memorable, it's quiet, cute, and endearing. i knew almost everything was going to happen but it didn't happen exactly the way i thought it would and the subtle differences made all the world of difference. remus finally gets up the courage to let sirius knows how he feels, plans it out all nice and romantic-like, and my idiot favorite sirius black doesn't get it. while not unique, it's nicely done and employs ideas that other fics never thought to add. kudos!

~ waltz for the moon by paige ~ ~sirius/remus, remus/snape, drama, series~
this was one of the stories i read starting out in the hp fandom and it remains my favorite. it's a great starting point for new readers, expanding upon events only mentioned in prisoner of azkaban. it's all about answering the question why. why did sirius try to kill severus, was it just a joke, something more, something less? it's a study in want, desire, jealously, maturity, friendship, betrayl and being oblivious to one's own feelings. in my opinion this is the one and only fic to explain the snape shack incident.
