I recently discovered a new variety of the 1920 penny. The obverse has the rare London die while the reverse carries the Sydney die dot above bottom scroll. This coin has the designation of P20S-1C-/./
The coin was authenticated by an Australian coin expert residing in the USA and was officially announced on the TNS online web site early this month (July). There is a TNS link to the left for your convenience. Once on the TNS site click on the current newsletter and scroll down to view the announcement.
An article should be appearing in the Australian Coin and Banknote magazine in September.
This is the only known specimen and grades gVF with 6 clear pearls and full centre diamond and atrace of the 7 & 8 pearls. Check out your 1920 pennies for a London obverse with a dot above the bottom scroll reverse (YOU NEVER KNOW).
The coin is NOT FOR SALE unless someone offers me the price that I consider to be the true value.
If anyone would like to put an offer or value on the coin please contact me at the address below
