As soon as possible I will have a link here where you may check my family tree to see if we are connected.

Hi my name is Geoff Slocom and I have only just recently returned to the net, as a result of this my home page was deleted, and I am just starting to rebuild it, so please be patient with me as I will soon have things back up and running again.I have been tracing my family tree for about 5 years. The catalyst for my search was the death of my father Ivan Ernest James Slocom. It was at his funeral that I realised how little we actually knew about the family.
My grandfather had imigrated from Ilfracombe Devon England to Melbourne Australia with his two step brothers William Alfred Joslin and John henry Joslin. They arrived in Melbourne on board the Irishman in 1913 travelling as unassisted british imigrants. He died when I was only four but I have been told that he was reluctant to disscuss his Family or the reasons as to why he left England leaving me with a legacy of brickwalls and false leads to sort out.

ILFRACOMBE

I am happy to say that through a long campaign of letter writing and researching at our local family history library aided by some plain old dumb luck and good contacts on the net I have been able to build a fairly comprehensive picture of my Slocombe family in Ilfracombe.
One of the surnames I have been lucky enough to recieve help with was the Davie family of Ilfracombe, although I am still trying to find a little more about my great grandmother Clara Davie.
