Raccoon

We have seen several raccoons in the yard; usually early in the morning or at night.  One time we had three youngsters that were on the deck getting a drink of water.  We had never been able to capture them in a photo however.  This little guy came to get a drink at mid-morning.  It concerned me because if you see a raccoon during the day there is usually a problem.  Sure enough, as this little fellow jumped down from the water dish we noticed he had an injured front paw.  He was limping pretty badly.   I hope he makes it! Late August 2004 - Our little visitor seems to be getting along ok.  He is still limping though; the damage to his paw may be permanent.  He must be having a fairly hard time surviving, otherwise I believe he would be more frightened of us.
