This George House Bed & Breakfast Port Elgin home was built in 1865 and has been furnished with many of the original period pieces that decorated this beautiful 19th century home. There is a huge veranda on the first and second floor for use by the guests. Guests may enjoy breakfast on the lower veranda in the mornings whenit is is warm enough and they can enjoy the lounge chairs during the day and evening on the upstairs veranda. As you enter this home guests enter from the foyer into the living room and the dining room. The main staircase leads to the guest bedrooms and the veranda on the second story. There is also a small fridge to store food and refreshments for the guests. The hosts, Doug and Jackie Smith live in the back portion of this large home and have their own private staircase to thier private bedrooms.
Guests have their own private area to use away from your genial hosts at this Bed & Breakfast Port Elgin home. There are three rooms to choose from. The green room is the largest of the three rooms with a queen bed, sitting chair, closet and a full ensuite bathroom with a claw foot tub and antique dresser. The next largest room is the Rose room and also has a queen bed and a large private bath room down the hall. The blue room is equipped with two single beds and has a new ensuite shower. All rooms are equipped with ceiling fans.
Breakfast is served on the veranda in warm weather and in the formal dining room in cooler weather. Jackie loves to cook and services her guests a full breakfast beginning with coffee or tea, fruit, a muffin or scone, juice and a choice of several main dishes that vary throughout the week. Guests have a choice of quiche, western omelettes, BLT's and more.
The George House is equipped with a library, television, fax and photocopier for business requirements. Guests can easily walk to the main street, which is less than two blocks from the George house, and the beach is approximately a twenty-minute walk for those who are more ambitious. Several bicycles are also available for those guests who enjoy bicycling. This is a great bed and breakfast place to stop over or to spend a week’s vacation, enjoy the beach and the beautiful sunsets!
