Interview With Alexander Rekhviashvili
1) What do you think of the standard of football in the Russian League?

A) Well I think its much better than the Latvian League. I have played two of the teams four games and I can say that every match here is a battle in every part of the pitch. This takes place in the whole game and I like it very much. There are no easy games.

2) What are the differences between Skonto Riga and Torpedo Metallurg?

A) For a start Torpedo is a new team. There are many newcomers to the team including the coach Alenikov who came from Italy. Torpedo has new owners and they want to form a European level team. The only thing Torpedo loses to Skonto is the fact that Skonto has eleven league titles and Torpedo none. All the players at Skonto had champions soul. Our team doesn't have that yet.

3) Were you disapointed not to get a move to a major European League such as the English Premiership or Italian Serie A?

A) There were some interesting chances but unfortunatly I am not 25 anymore. I think I made a mistake in staying with skonto as long as I did. I think I should of left sooner. Serie A is a much stronger league than the Russian but looking on the bright side the Russian League is in the top ten leagues in the world.

4) What happened when you left Torpedo and went to the Alania Vladikavkaz training camp?

A) Yes that did take place but I think I made a mistake and it has been forgotten now. I'm a Torpedo player and Alenikov trusts me. I'm trying my best for the team.

5) How long will you stay with Torpedo?

A) I have a 2 year contract so I will be here for at least 2 years

6) What did you think of Chivadzes decision to bring back the old guard?

A) I was amazed Chivadze returned to the old guard. It was very strange. I have nothing against the old players but some of them said no to playing for the National team after the Ireland game. Its a pity that tremendosly talented players such as Jamarauli, Kinkladze and the others have won nothing on an international level. Third place in the qualifying group is nothing for Georgia.

7) What are your thoughts on playing for the National Team?

A) I'm proud. Its very good to represent your country. I like it much better playing in Tbilisi. It feels twice as good as every Georgian is a specialist in football. This makes it difficult to please in front of Tbilisi crowd. But I like the presssures.

8) What do you think of the next game against Russia?

A) Its a very important game for the group and for the Georgian people. I hope we will play better than the last game against them.

9) How long will you continue to play in the National Team?

A) I will play as long as my country needs me. When I am not needed I will retire

10) What would you like to do once you retire from football?

A)  I'm not sure yet. I think i'd like to stay in football as a coach or a manager

11) Have you visited or heard of www.georgiansoccer.com?

A) I like your site very much. It is interesting. But recently I have had no time to look but I am getting a new PC in the next few days and I will visit your site frequently.
