1996 - Atari's Sunnyvale, CA office closed...Atari Interactive logo

 1998 - after a silence with JTS, the former Atari Corp. returns to life under new owners Hasbro.  No hardware is planned but several classic titles are released with modern upgrades in audio & video.  Hasbro also licensed software company Activision (an Atari spin-off company from 1980) to produce Atari classics on new consoles and PC formats.

..Infogrames  purchased Atari Interactive and Hasbro Interactive 1st qtr 2001 from Hasbro,  who will continue with it's toy business,   and become part of Infogrames, a video game business in France and worldwide.

 

 2002:  Infogrames US market now sponsors support for gaming consoles using the ATARI name on action and arcade style games

2003:  the original  name in video gaming finally returns as a global distributor of multi-console and PC video games.  All that was previously Infogrames is now Atari shown with the fuji logo.  The offices in Sunnyvale, CA remain closed, the new office is in NYC and eastern MA.

The arcade distributor Atari Games/Midway Games West is now known only as Midway Games after the coin-op gaming market has ended, Midway Games remains active producing multi-console and PC games., including the popular "Midway Arcade Treasure" classics trilogy featuring several of the Atari Games coin-op titles, and modern hits based on the later coin-op titles including L.A. Rush and Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows.
