Hi everybody! I'm Victoria, and I am the governor of Gerbil Island. I am the only human that lives on the island, and my job is to take care of all the gerbils and make sure all their needs are met. In other words, I'm the gerbil breeder. I started to get interested in gerbils about 3 1/2 years ago when my friend got a mouse. Being the typical 12-year-old that I was, I wanted a mouse too. With a bit of persuasion from me, my parents took me to the pet store to see the mice on display. But instead of looking at the mice, I fell in love with the gerbils. Therefore, I ended up getting a pair of beautiful gerbils whom I named Dusty and Patch. Dusty was a dove and Patch was a pied argente golden.
I loved Dusty and Patch to bits, and I took care of them as best as I possibly could. Dusty and Patch lived for 3 happy years with me, until they died of old age in October 2003.
Because I became addicted to gerbils (lol), I decided to get another pair. So, I went back to the pet store and picked out two gorgeous girls: an argente creme and a golden agouti. I named them Sugar and Cinnamon.
BUT... one day, I was looking at the two gerbils and I thought to myself, "Hey, Sugar [the argente creme] looks like a male..." Uh oh. at first I completely freaked out, but then I calmed down a bit and thought to myself, "Hey. That means Cinnamon and Sugar are going to have pups!" So, I got very excited about the idea and looked on the internet for as much information as I could on breeding. And here I am now with my own website on gerbils! (oh and by the way, i renamed the gerbils Phoebe and Squeaker. Sugar isn't a very good name for a male gerbil lol)
My Policy
I am strictly a hobby breeder and I will never ever sell to pet stores. I strive to lovingly raise the friendliest, good-natured pups as possible, and I make sure all the pups go to good homes where they will be loved and taken good care of. I never sell the pups singly, unless the adopter has another lone gerbil that will be introduced to it by using the split cage method. Unfortunately, I am not a part of the AGS (American Gerbil Society) but i am planning on joining :o)
