Army Picker for Warhammer 40K
This page contains the free Warhammer 40K Army Picker program. This program allows you to pick the units and models in your armylist, calculating the right points and printing two reports on the chosen units.  There are also two bonus programs included:

* Renum.exe        : This renumbers the [Troop] section so it's coherent in the datafile
* TGen40k            : This generates random terrainconditions for the battlefield
Army Picker program (version 1.16a)

If you have any comments, questions or wh40k.ini files you can mail me at

Please add something like 'Warhammer 40K' to the subject so I know it's not junkmail.
The program relies on a WH40K.INI.  To download the datafile for your army, choose one below and place it in your Army Picker directory.
What is on this page?
What do you need to use the Army Picker?
If the datafile of your army is not listed below it's not available yet! Since I don't posess all codexes you are encouraged to create a datafile yourself! It's pretty simple and a desciption on how to do it is supplied through a readme file and can be found in all datafiles. You can also use the Datafile Creation Utiltiy. I would appreciate it if you mail me the datafile of your own army once you have finished it!
What is in the wh40k.ini datafile?
The datafile is filled with information from the codex of a single army. The file is a textfile and of pretty simple construction, so with a little effort you can modify your own troops, weapons and specials if desired.
What is it not?
The Army picker program is not designed to accommodate all the armies and their possibilities specifically. If that was the case, the program would be so complex, you probably wouldn't want to use it in the first place.
So, what does it do?
The Army Picker program will be able to create army rosters that will be complete most of the time. A few exceptions in certain armies will take a little imagination and knowledge of the codex so don't throw it away yet! Sometimes the datafile used to represent your army must be filled in cunningly at some points in order to get things right.
Hey, my army datafile is not present!
