The Center for Digital Libraries Education is a resource for library school students and faculty and for library professionals. Information and links concerning digital library education have been gathered in one place so that interested parties can compare the similarities and differences between classes. Digital Library courses from around the world have been surveyed and the results can be found in this digital library.
Collection Policy
This digital library collects links to websites concerned with digital library classes from schools and universities around the world. There are links to various schools homepages, class descriptions, course syllabi, and articles and papers of interest concerning digital library education.
Since this field changes rapidly, links older than four years will not be maintained on this site.
These links are organized around geography and connectivity (is a class online or on campus?). There is also a course materials section where the results of a survey of textbooks and other class materials are posted.
Maintenance Plan and Feedback
This digital library was created for ILS 655 a digital libraries class at Southern Connecticut State University. In the time constraints the semester permitted, I was able to survey 30 digital library courses. Those 30 are represented here. To continue building and improving this library, I would persist in surveying schools around the world, searching out more courses to present here. I would also continuously check the links offered in the digital library to be certain they are maintained. Reading DLib magazine would become part of my maintenance plan; I would try to stay on top of digital library education in any way I could.
As soon as possible, I would get a better search engine for the site.
I would also learn more HTML so that I could include more comprehensive metadata.
As for feedback from users, each page offers users a chance to e-mail me with their questions or concerns.
