Author's notes: Chapter 38. Finally. This chapter had some trouble, because when it was ready for posting at least two weeks ago, my computer crashed, and a good part of the editing was lost. I had to start editing almost from scratch again, hence the delay.
Also, Chapter 38 has set a new record; it's beat Chapter 37 in length, although I still much prefer Chapter 37.
Thank you *very* much for all the reviews; keep them coming, and Chapter 39 shouldn't take long, barring all technical difficulties, that is. :S
Also, I have a small apology to make. This chapter *could* have been posted yesterday, but I went to watch "Troy" yesterday afternoon, and when I came back, I was just too depressed to do anything after watching one of my favourite characters in classic literature (Hector) die in battle on screen. It's a fantastic film, but for those who haven't seen it yet but know the story, be warned: if you thought it was sad reading about Hector's death, it's painful to watch it happen.
Responses to reviews:
Lyl: The style of the last chapter seems familiar to you? Hm. Interesting. For chapter 37, I was sort of on a roll, really. I saw the whole of 37 in my head in completely perfect detail before I ever had the words to write it. :P
Dawn: Wasn't expecting you to sign the book since you already email me with each update, but thank you, anyway!
Kate: Took me a while to figure out your reference to Buffy... then I remembered the season finale where Willow goes rather mental. :) It's rather sinful to say that I don't really watch this true work of entertainment, but sadly, it's the truth. I only saw the second part of that season finale, and the only way I knew about the events leading up to it was through the episode recap in the beginning! For shame... :P Anyway, no, Mark wasn't based on Willow; he just sort of... came out that way. Sometimes my own characters run away with their actions; I just write it down if I like it. :)
Sarah: Chapter 39 has begun its editing process; if all goes well, it'll be up here in about ten days. Cross your fingers and pray that my bloody computer doesn't cock up again. :P
Jane: Yes, I can see that it's taking a while to absorb... :D I'm glad you like it, anyhow! :D
So now, on to Chapter 38. :)
Hello, I'm Gerri, author of this a1 fanfic series. This started out as a work of fanfiction, but since the band that it revolved around split up, I guess it's now verging very much into being an original work.
Please sign the Guestbook; I'd love to hear from you! :)
Meanwhile, I hope you'll enjoy your stay in Elsen Bay.
