The Six Folds of BBG

Creativity ~ This is an area in which BBGs receive the chance to display, share, and cultivate their skills in many non-traditional ways. Anything that utilizes a BBG's personal skill in an original, hands on, or arts and crafts manner is welcome here.

Jewish Heritage ~ The Jewish Heritage fold covers the totality of Jewish life. The fold includes all aspects of Judaism from our heritage, traditions, history, holidays and customs, to immigrants, and any other facet of Jewish life. Programs range from holding your own service, to building a Chapter Sukkah, to educating members on Jewish concerns, to holding an "Israeli Experience" night, to preparing a Chapter Shabbat dinner. BBG is a Jewish organization. The inclusion of Jewish Heritage as a fold is not meant to suggest that Judaism is incompatible with the non-programming aspects of BBG. Rather, Judaism is the foundation of our Order and thus is an inherent part of everything we do as B'nai B'rith Girls. As a Jewish Organization, we must hold a strong Jewish Heritage in our programming as to keep the pride in our religion alive. Not all programs have to be educational to be part of the Jewish Heritage fold. Fun programs such as Israeli Dancing, and decorating yarmulkes can all be considered under this fold.

Citizenship ~ This is an area in which BBG recognize their obligations to the community. The Social Action fold enables us to educate our members, voice our concerns, and take action. Social Action is a discussion of the problems and issues of today in relation to us, or sometimes to other people. The Social Action fold allows our members to make a difference. Social Action allows our members to learn about and affect the world around us. It also requires us to become informed of the issues that affect us and allows us to educate others on these issues. Many of the programs are informative and relate to how problems in society relate to us as B'nai Brith Girls. Social Action programs can include anything from sponsoring a "get-out-the vote" campaign, to doing an AIDS awareness program, to creating petitions to send to political leaders, to having a speaker on date rape.

Community Service ~ In this area, BBG gives back to the community in service. Rather than educating on social issues, you work (labor) to change social conditions. Donating personal time plays a major part in this area.

Sisterhood ~ The last, but certainly not least, this is the time when we, as BBGs, hang out, bond, and spend quality time together; A time where we share hopes, dreams, love, laughs, and enjoy each other for who we really are.

Recreation ~ In this area, we recreate. Anything dealiing with athletics and having fun falls here.
