While unfastening the body mount bolts for the body lift, a couple of rusty bolts really caused problems.
This is the mount on the driver's side, right behind the door. A hole had to be drilled in the floor to get to the nut that broke out of the factory holder. When I still couldn't get a grip on the nut, I used a torch and commenced to cutting off the bolt under the body. It was revealed that this method for removing the rusted bolts was not for the faint of heart....after I removed the flame from the bolt, I noticed the body mount was ablaze. Thankfully we were able to hose the mount off before the whole truck went up.
I had to grind the head off a bolt in the rear of the cab, so it could drop out the bottom. This bolt wasn't coming out. I twisted a 1/2" extension bar trying to break it loose. After I had already ground the head off, I found out that it was a carriage-type bolt and would not drop out throught the bottom. So a bigger hole was made in order to grab it and pull it out the top.
Tips:
I had to lower my gas tank a little....glad I didn't have a big tank full of gas to balance on the jack.
