This is the beginning of a restoration project that my wife Donna and I are starting.  The project is a 98 year old Victorian.  The picture above shows that the house is in desperate need of repair.  Fortunately, most of the work is cosmetic in natue.  We purchased the house in mid 1996 and the first thing needed was a new roof.  The roof on the porch will come later after the second floor front painting is done.  It does not leak, and is O.K. for now.  The inside of the house is in original condition.  All of the fixtures are from 1903.  Elsewhere, everthing heartpine, oak and the craftsmanship of 1903 buildings.  We were lucky that a copy of the blueprints and builders spec's from the architect were kept and passed down to the different owner's

First things were first.  New roof and complete replacement of the hidden gutter system in 1997.  The inside is mainly plaster repair, new downstairs bath needed and removal of 12 coats of paint from the outside and start over with fresh primer and paint.  Grandfather and Dad said :

This picture is after the new roof was completed in the Fall of 1997.  We had purchased the house and moved in April of 1996.  We began taking the paint off of all exterior surfaces in 1998.  We worked on one side at a time.  Took vacations, weekend trips...did not try to kill ourselves getting it done....a little at a time....AT LEAST THATS WHAT DONNA KEEPS SAYING??????
