The Party

Niclaus Hjalmerson, (Male Human/Cleric of Tyr) -Played by Lori Olcott

  • Niclaus Hjalmerson was the village troublemaker in a small, human burg outside of Uthmere. He never did anything that got anyone hurt (not much, anyway) and he never broke anything valuable, but his antics were annoying and frequent enough to gain him a bad reputation. When he was thirteen, he caught the attention of a poltergeist. The phantom followed him around causing much more havoc than he had ever caused on his own. Niclaus enjoyed a bit of mischief, but the poltergeist's pranks went far beyond his ideas of fun. Sadly, with his firmly established rep in the area, no one would believe that he wasn't responsible for the injuries and damages that "just happened" around him.
  • However, one person was able to see the truth of the situation and come to the boy's aid. Silwen Keilmar, the cleric of Tyr assigned to the area, detected the poltergeist's presence. He exorcised the spirit and cleared Niclaus's name (at least to some degree). Niclaus was overcome with gratitude and stood in awe of Silwen's power. He vowed to be just like his new hero, and followed him back to Uthmere to begin his training at the temple of Tyr. He hopes to join the proud tradition of the Exorcists and help other people beleaguered by ghosts and spirits.

  • Clazrin the Protector(Male Human/Fighter) -Played by Vance

  • Clazrin (Claz) is the third son of Trallin and Freyja Shieldarm. Clazrin has two older Brother’s Narcin and Drollin Shieldarm, and a younger sister named Reyhia. Trallin and Freyja were in an adventuring group together for a short while until Freyjia founded a small church in Drake Falls, Damara. Freyjia is the local priestess in this church dedicated to Chauntea. Trallin was originally from Ravensbluff where he, his father and three brothers, were in the city guard together. Trallin settled into the family business of being a Guardsman, actually the city Marshall. Trallin left town for adventure with a group named the Red Cherubs. Freyjia was also a member of this group and eventually they settled down together.
  • Trallin has since retired from that post and has been reluctantly voted in as a city councilman. The Eldest soon, Narcin, is currently the Marshall of Drake Falls, he works hard at his craft and has continually pushed his younger brother to be as diligent as himself. Drollin resented his brother Narcin and when Narcin became Marshall Drollin quit the guard and decided to leave town for the life of an adventurer. Drollin left town with an adventuring group name the Black Claw and has not been seen or heard from since. Freyjia is worried and has asked Narcin to go look for his brother. Narcin, having married his childhood sweetheart, who happens to also be expecting, has no intention of leaving on a foolhardy mission of looking for his irresponsible brother. In her grief and fear, Freyjia has asked her youngest son Claz to look for Drollin. Claz has agreed and his motivation for adventuring is to try to follow the footsteps of his brother to find him and find answers for his beloved mother.
  • Clazrin sees himself as a protector, when he was young he used to try to protect his sister from the teasing of his brother Drollin. He wishes to do well and tries his best to live up to the standards (as he sees it) of his Father. Trallin secretly calls Claz, “my little overachieving paladin.” Trallin named Clazrin after his great uncle who had a stellar career as a Paladin of Pelor until he was sacrificed on an altar of Lolth, the Spider Queen, by drow. This happened during a failed mission to recover a sacred artifact the underdark.
  • Claz has a journal of his father’s from the days when his father was adventuring. In the journal Trallin slipped in little snippets of advice that he credits with surviving his short lived adventuring career. The snatches of advice are things like, “Don’t ever mess with evil altars.” “Never stir up a stagnant pool, calm pool fine, but leave the darn stagnant pool alone.” “Obsidian anything means trouble!” Every night Claz reads his father journal and writes his own experiences in his own (along with letters to his mother).

  • ???, (Male Halfling/Rogue) -Played by Mike

  • ??? was born to a minor tradesman in a mid-sized town. Life in town offered no particularly good prospects, so he joined the militia to see the world and learn useful skills. (This is not the sole indication that his foresight is not what it could be.) He is often motivated by a vague idea that his destiny involves righting miscellaneous wrongs and improving the world in some small measure, but it soon became clear that it was unclear that the army would be the best way to do that.
  • Except for the fact that he has no strength, a wimpy weapon, and a meager health, ??? is a mighty and dangerous fighter who has every confidence that he is possessed of a vast reservoir of vitality. These delusions are rendered less-than-instantly-fatal by the fact that he is actually a reasonably good tactician by virtue of the time that he has spent in the army of the great military leader Bret Indrelee. As to whether anyone in these parts has heard of the great General Indrelee is open to question, but the time spent in General Indrelee's employ were happy times filled with learning many things (often inadvertently to General Indrelee's general misfortune). Ah, the sorrows of attracting inept underlings and understudies - it is SO hard to get good help these days. But I digress.
  • Perhaps life as a free-lance mercernary or soldier or something like that might prove interesting, or at least turn up some wrongs to be righted.

  • Ivaeleus, (Male Elf/Ranger) -Played by Matt

  • Kaylen, (Female Elf/Wildtalent) -Played by Kat

  • Kaylen is a moon elf with the fair skin and white silver hair. Her eyes being eleven in appearance is missing the dark pupils one have come to expect and has just a darker green there. She wears nice clothing that you have come to expect on the Elvin kin. She has traveling clothing that she wears when she is wandering. She owns armor, a longbow, and a sword. Most people never see them for she has been working as a waitress when she can find work.
  • Kaylen is outgoing, as you can expect from an elf. She is a little uneasy in large crowds and tends to withdraw when in them, (around 20 people or more) She is young even by elf years and just became an adult not too long ago. She has a few of the colder characters of the Elvin race, but they seem to falter from time to time. She is more emotional then your average elf, especially when she does not have time to herself to mediate. She knows her emotions need to be controlled and will often wonder away from the city to mediate when she can.
  • Kaylen is coming to terms with her still developing powers. She has begun to accept them and start trying to control them and maybe awaken more of them. She is frightened of herself and does not yet know what good could come of these destructive forces within her. She wanders the world for clues to herself and to her kin. She still wanders away from her past.

  • Kyt (Kite) (Male Humanoid Cat) -Played by Kit

  • "I ran and ran, tail puffed in terror. The man was really angry this time. I don't know what could have caused him to react so, but maybe it was because I didn't kill the bird creature. It didn't LOOK edible, and it sure didn't smell right. I grew tired from running and stopped under a tree to groom my tail. I was so tired and I was panting uncontrollably from my fright. It was going to take forever to get my tail back into shape. The loud-bright noise was not only terrifying, but it damaged my tail as well!
  • As I settled down to rest, I realized that this part of the forest sounded and smelled very unfamiliar. There was little undergrowth and I did not hear the smaller animals that were usually out at this time of night. I decided to try to get home. Still, something about the man bothered me. He seemed so angry that I wouldn't eat the bird-thing. This was not the first either. Each day, he would bring a new creature before me. Before, it was tasty birds, fuzzy rodents, and sometimes - fish! He seemed to enjoy watching me hunt and eat them, even though it was so rude of him no to allow me to eat in privacy. Now, the prey was getting larger with each passing day.
  • Instead of eating in a room, he would release them into the forest for me to hunt. That was fun, but the prey he was bringing lately was less and less edible. I wanted to please him, but these creatures didn't smell healthy. Moreso, they were getting far to large to eat. The more I tried to return, the less familiar the land seemed to be. Pretty soon, I realized that I was lost. A tight ball grew in my chest as I redoubled my efforts and continued my search. Panic set in and I began to run again. I tried my hardest, but each turn only felt less and less familiar as the hours passed. Days passed and I began to wonder if I would ever find the man again..."

Simon Ayin, (Male Human/Fighter) -Played by Wade Coleman

  • Simon was born a 5th generation blacksmith. Although he finds Blacksmithing to be a respectable occupation, it is a bit boring. For the most part, it involves making horse shoes, pounding out square nails, and putting metal rims around wagon wheels. Profitable- but very boring work. To make things more interesting, Simon Ayin specializes in repairing armor and weapons; adding little adornments at the request of the owners. He finds a particular fascination with magical armor and weapons. Why does something so dull cause so much damage? Requests for the repair and sharpening of these items runs far and few in between. He finds himself wanting more out of life.
  • Simon comes from a family of social climbers; always looking for a way to advance their standing in the community. He finds this boring. He is tired of listening to the drivel that is called gossip and considers it to be poison to the soul. His talents with metal are a matter of great pride for his family, however. He is especially skilled in working with iron, silver, gold, and brass. In his community he has a bit of reputation. A reputation that his family intends to capitalize on. His father and mother, after careful consideration, has chosen his wife, Sarah Feingold. A fine women, whose attributes include shade in the summer and warmth in the winter; 5’10” and 269 pounds of pure woman. He shudders at the thought of what it would be like to lay in bed with a women of such epic proportions. He finds himself in a precarious position; accept highly profitable employment and marriage in what would be sure death of his soul, or get the hell out of town. Decisions, Decisions.
  • Simon Ayin's motivation is clear, pure terror. He is afraid of becoming his mother and father. He realizes that he will become a mere blip in history. He sees his options as between that of a successful and rich blacksmith/jeweler or a one in ten chance at greatness. He decided that he will take the first job that is offered to him: a comission to recover lost artifacts. He finds this far more acceptable than the alternatives: mediocracy.
