Z History
Back in 1969 Datsun made the 240z but it was a 1970 model. The 240z's were made from 1970-1973. They had a 2.4 liter straight six engine with dual carbs. Datsun named it 240 because it was a 2.4 liter they just added a 0. In 1974 Datsun made the 260z with a 2.6 liter straight six engine with dual carbs. They had less horsepower than the 240's because of smog control in the U.S. but the UK models had more horsepower than the U.S models. In 1975 Datsun made the 280z it came with a electronically controlled fuel injection and a five speed over-drive manual. The 280z had a 2.8 liter straight six engine and they where made from 1975-1978.
In 1979 Datsun made the 280zx which has eveything the 280z has but the 280zx came with an opptional turbo charge engine they were called 280zxt. In 1984 Datsun change thier name to Nissan and came out with the 300zx. The 300zx came with a 3.0 six cylinder engine with an opptional turbo charge. The 300zx had a diffrent look than the 240z, 260z, 280z, and the 280zx. This 300zx body style was made from 1984-1989. In 1990 Nissan change the body style of the 300zx and put more horsepower in the engine. The 1990-1995 models are the fastest Z's made but in 2002 Nissan is coming out with a new Z which is going to be faster. It's a 2003 model but it's coming out in mid 2002, it will have a 3.5 liter six cylinder engine that will do 0-60 in just under six seconds. If it comes with an opption turbo charged engine it will do 0-60 in about 5 seconds.
