Sales Ticket Back about 1978, I was putting on a pair trousers getting ready for work, when I felt something in the pocket. Oddly enough, the item in the pocket was a Cash Register Receipt from the "Ben Franklin Store" in De Soto, MO. It was dated December 2nd (or close), 1972. I asked my wife about it, as I had never been to De Soto, MO, however I had heard of it, from seeing advertisements on billboards while taking family vacations etc. My wife said, she had never been to De Soto either, and of course, neither would have even passed through on a vacation, as the ticked was dated during the winter. Well, feeling it was a tad odd, I wadded the ticket up and threw it away. About a year later(this time we were living in a different home), I was putting on a shirt, and found the ticket again; it was in the pocket of my shirt. This time, asking my wife again about the ticket, she knew nothing about it. Well, just to make sure it was destroyed I tore up the ticket into small pieces. Thinking it was now destroyed, I went on. But, another year later, I was getting ready to leave, and found the ticket sitting on my bookcase. It looked exactly like the ticket ink smudges and all (old cheap cash register tape), with the same $1.92 amount on it, dated the same December 2, 1972 date. This time, I looked at it for quite some time, and decided to destroy it by burning it. So, one evening, my wife and I were sitting in the living room, and I burned the ticket. It was completely consumed by the fire. This time we were sure the ticket was gone. But to our surprise, I again found the ticket about a year later in a pair of jeans I was putting on. I finally decided it was not to be destroyed, so I put it back on the bookshelf in a collector's\ mug with other items I had. My Bother-In-Law was visiting and we were discussing eerie tales and I told him this one. We again decided to burn it, and I told him I\rquote d mail it to him in 6 months when it re-appeared. We all laughed, and burned the paper in another little ceremony. Again, the paper was completely destroyed. About 6 months later, I heard my wife (in our daughter\rquote s room, straightening and cleaning up) scream, and she came running out of her room, shaking, holding the ticket in her hand. We looked it over, the exact same ticked, same amount, same date etc. Both having an eerie feeling, We called her brother to tell him the story. He laughed and said, " Sure" . I told him I was going to mail it to him to prove it, and he said, "Don't mail it to me, I don't want it". But I wanted him to know it was the same ticket, so I mailed it to him. I told him, when he got it to burn it, in a ceremony with friends, and we'd see if it ever came back. Well, shortly there after, I got an envelope back with the ashes of the ticket in it, and a note about it and how they burned it. They had the witnesses sign the note (I can't find that note to save my soul now). Since they burned the note, about 12 years ago, I have never seen the note again. Wondering if something was lost when "They" burned it. Signed:Perplexed |
