He continued to work at Piggly Wiggly while he and his wife lived with his parents at Poplar Creek.  On December 1, 1966, Tex was drafted and left for his tour of duty in the United States Army.  He did his basic training at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.  His AIT was at Fort Gordon, Georgia, where he trained in the communications field.  Shortly after Tex was drafted into the Army, Imogene discovered that she was pregnant, and they soon became parents for the first time.  Tex left the U.S. in June, 1967, for Vietnam.  He spent a year there and returned home to meet his baby daughter, Jennifer Denise, who was born on September 8, 1967; she was 9 months old when Tex saw her for the first time. After a short stay in Grundy, Tex and his family moved to Arizona.  Tex's orders took him to Ft.
