This aircraft is a tanks worst nightmare! The A-10 Thunderbolt II (AKA Warthog II) is commonly referred to as "The Flying Tank." This one is firing 30mm depleated uranium bullets at a ground target at a "Red Flag" training exercise in the Nevada derert. |

This is a F-16C Falcon in the USAF. It is armed with *ATA and *ATG missiles along with a *ECM pod. The two large objects on the wings are external fuel tanks, not bombs. The F-16C is one of the most exported military aircraft in the world, and is used by over 10 countries air forces! The F-16 C is also one of the world's most agile and manuverable aircraft, having "static" controls available to the pilot. This one pictured above has two ATG missiles called HARMs and the two missiles on the wingtips are called "Sparrows." |
The picture to the right is a AV-8B Harrier 2. It is used exclusively by the USMC or the United States Mariene Corps. The aircraft is one of a kind, because it can hover like a heliopter! It can also move sideways and go backwards! The small muzzles on the side of the belly allow the aircraft to do this. The Harrier has been in the USMC inventory for over 20 years and is soon to be replaced by the F-32 JSF. (Joint Strike Fighter) |
