The rules of being a mechanic.

1. A $500.00 computer will blow in order to protect a .25 cent fuse.
2. A mechanic must Retain more knowledge than a doctor or lawyer for much less income.

3. Diagnosing automotive problems (for free) over the phone.
4. The rush job you spend all night on won’t be picked up for two days.
5. Customers cars never give you as much trouble as your own.
6. Sometimes a bolt will only come loose after spilling your own blood as a sacrifice.
7. Dealing with customers that will not give you the full story about their problem but expect you to fix it anyway.
8. Dealing with customers that either perceive you as incompetent or a thief.
9. Anything is possible to a customer who does not have a clue what they are talking about.
10. Take responsibility for a customers vehicles condition which is abused and neglected by the owner.
11. There are three factors with vehicle repairs etc. GOOD, CHEAP, FAST. Pick any two of the three above.

12. Must take responsibility for a misdiagnosis when a customer has misdiagnosed the vehicles problems.

13. You will get more dirty when working on a vehicle than the vehicle had dirt on it to begin with.

14. Doctors get paid more even though they have been working on the same two modles that have not changed for hundreds of years wheras a mechanic have to know dozens of different makes with model changes every year.
