So many Hobbies so little time. I love Music, Moives, Video collecting, Karaoke, T.V, Surfing the net., and the one hobbie not media oriented: Scrabooking my family photos. Also, just thought I would share a little info. about my screen name. A few people have asked, "why do you call yourself Giddieforjoey? First, the Joey part comes from being a fan of Joey McIntyre(NKOTB), duh? The other part comes from his first debut album, "Stay the same." There is a song on there called, "Give it up." In the song it starts out with Joey talking in a whispery voice, "Give it up girl..." Before I found out the correct lyrics, I always thought he was saying, "Giddy up girl." Plus, I also mis-spellt the word Giddy. Thought it was a bit different so it stuck. It ended up that I was really giddy for Joey anyway. |

For those who do not know already: Two older Brothers, one younger bratty sis., and two nieces.. Husby and I just celebrated 10yrs. together June 25th. ![]() Please note that I will now be puting dates on encounters plus, the day when the site was updated. ![]() ![]() What's he like? Pretty funny guy one of the first major celebs I checked out. Gave him a few lemons on the house cause I did not want to open the bag, and count them and niether did he. ![]() What's he like? Was in a hurry did not really want to be noticed, but basicly a nice guy. ![]() What's she like? cordial, but kinda snobby and pre occupied. (updated 8-09-01)She comes thru my line regularly now we both are pretty comfortable with each other because I finally after a year told her that I recoginized her on an episode of the series "Stong Medicine" She said the series is kinda of boring. ![]() What's he like? Cool guy he comes into the store all the time. He still is in good shape, and still has an accent. When he came thru my line the first thing he said, "I could put you in my pocket...". ![]() What she like? Was concerned more about looking at the tabloids. Probably wondering why she is not in any of the articles. Duh! She definitely almost looked unreckognizable, but she is a nice lady. ![]() What's she like? She was nice didn't want help out to her car (chump don't want no help chump don't get no help). Oh! she goes by Barbara Mortenson. ![]() What's he like? Looks just like the character from the series. He had a his wife and daughter with him. His wife came in to buy the last week in July 2001 issue of People magazine. They are featured in a Thirtysomething reunion article. ![]() What's she like? She is a regular customer and a nice lady. ![]() Whats he like? Pretty up beat kinda guy; hyper. ![]() Bought cat food. Very pleasant man. ![]() What's she like? Matt and I sat in the same theater when we watched "Me Myself and Irene". Did not get to talk to her. But, I personally met her in 86. ![]() Whats she like? Pretty much like her same character in TV. Really did not want to be recognized, but we did. Basicly came in to use the ATM. ![]() Whats he like? I met him in a coffee shop down the street. He told me they were off right now and it was nice they he and Cheri live in town. ![]() What's she like? She is a regular customer. It took me a long time to figure out who she is, but I kept looking at her like I knew her from somewhere. ![]() Whats she like? Nice lady. And has done a lot of film work. Just enter her name in www.imbd.com and you will recognize all her work. ![]() What's she like? Pretty wierd. She wanted cigaretts for 2.50 told her we did not have cigarettes for that price. She was a pain in the A!@#. ![]() What's he like? Very pleasant. Just purchased breakfast stuff. Next day his wife came in. ![]() What's he like? Cool guy asked what my background was. Had a beautiful girlfriend with him and they both come to the store often.Updated 2/22/02 I swear everytime this guy comes in we have some sort of conversation about me being Filipino. This time he asked me how was I and I said, "freezing.." I was checking near the door so I had my jacket on. He said, "must be that Filipino blood in you" I started laughing and said, "Yea Filipino woman are not known for having warm running blood" I then asked him, "where's your coat?", and he said, "I already have my winter coat on" So, we had a laugh cause we all know what he meant.Updated 06/05/02Saw him come in and he came through my line. But, did not get to check him out because my checkstand crashed right before him. Man everytime he comes in something weird happens.Updated 12/05/02 We ran into each other at Barnes and Noble in Santa Monica while doing a little X-mas shopping. We greeted each other with a, "ayy how's it going?/b> ![]() What's he like? Just like the character (quiet). Could not find his club card. lol ![]() What's she like? Nice but kinda pain in the butt. She wanted a rain check for friken water on sale. ![]() What's he like? The moment he walked in the door I knew who he was. Five min. later he came thru my line to buy a case of liquor and flowers. Pretty amazing him buying liquor considering he being a liver transplant patient. Had to run after him to sign his credit receipt. ![]() What's he like? Did not really get to meet him but stood by him at the airport we were both waiting for our shuttle to the hotel parking. I really wanted his autograph but there was another guy looking for a pen to get do the same thing. ![]() Whats he like? Checked him out on the express and was a nice guy ![]() What's he like? Just asked where the carts were and almost ran into him when I was leaving my shift. ![]() What's he like? Nice guy, but held up my line because he had to go to his car for his checkbook. Customers in line were not too happy. ![]() What's she like? Very nice, came in with her boyfriend. Did not have her club card so I scanned one for her. ![]() What's she like? Hell I don't know I never met her. Roflmao But, I did see the taping of her ABC Christmas Special this last Nov.8th I am an official seatfiller now Woo Hoo! [Very cool show] check your local listings for air times o.k ![]() What are they like? Jason Newsted (Bass Player) and James Hetfield (Lead Singer) have been in my former Alamo store while I have baged for them late at night. They once came in and bought nothing but a cart full of junk food. I was just about to leave my shift when the checker asked me to come help her bag. On Feb. of 1992 Grammy Awards they where the only metal band to perform that night which was a shock to everyone in gowns and tuxs: They performed "Sand Man". ![]() What's she like? She bought stuff for the baby and I did not recognize her the first few times she came thru my line. ![]() What's she like? Pretty quiet had a big order. ![]() What's he like? Pretty nice easy going guy brought in his little daugther. ![]() What's he like? Very talkative guy. He comes in quite often and I did not know who he was till it was brought to my attention. ![]() What's she like? Nice lady came in to buy liquor and flowers with her family. ![]() What's she like? Came in on an early rainy day. Kinda held her up because of a register problem, but she was very understanding. update 08/20/02 I was on my way out to take a break about 3:30 p.m and spoted her checking out our floral dept. Came back from my break and she still was walking around the store. I did about 15 minutes of express checkout before they moved me to a regular checkstand. And, as soon as I opened she came in. She asked, "are you open?" I replied with, "I sure am come on in." She came back with, "I have a big order here," I told her, "that's o.k bring it on." It was a pretty big order, but after I was finished she hands me some coupons. I found that kind of interesting considering she just cleaned up on her last movie. But, I guess even the big guys want to save a few dollars. Anyway, she still was a sweetie. I so wanted to tell her that I was at the Myers ceremony, but I did not want her to feel like she could not come to me the next time she came in. It really is kind of tricky with celebs. You have to earn their trust, and not seem so anxious, or rather, eager right away. They see through that and it just does not sit well with them. Anyway, the transaction went smoothly and I made her feel comfortable. ![]() What's she like? Sweet lady she brought her kids in. Told her I loved her music and she was very appreciative she said, "oh thank you":) ![]() What's she like? Beautiful woman. Had a big order and kinda got a little nervous when her Discover Card did not scan. But, I put it thru.:) ![]() What's she like? Did not really get to meet her, but Steph and I spotted her in the checkout line at our neighborhood Ralphs. Steph was going to ask for her autograph but she did not look approachable. ![]() What's she like? Came thru the express line with her newborn baby. A couple of people asked her about her baby, but don't think they noticed who she was. ![]() ~Came in a few times but this is the first time he came thru my line. Very well dressed and pretty well aware of his good looks. ![]() What's he like? Did not come thru my line, but came thru one of our managers line with his wife. ![]() What's he like? Kinda jerky. Had a disagreement regarding a wine price. Kept saying "I know". ![]() What's she like? She finally came thru my line and is no longer considered, "a celeb that came in but did not check out". Looked tired but in a fairly good mood. We discussed the tabloid she was buying. ![]() What's she like? I asked her, "your Daphnie Zuniga right" and very politely with and with a smile on her face said yes. ![]() What's he like? He came into buy pull ups. Looked tired. ![]() What's she like? Comes in all the time. Very nice lady, but very conscientious shopper.Updated 07/09/02 She has been coming thru my line lately, and today she bought some gourmet cookies. She gave me the rest because she did not want to eat them all. ![]() What's she like? Nice but kinda quiet. Couple people starred at her I can tell it made her kinda uncomfortable. She bought some junk food and barbacue stuff. Some of her snack cakes did not make her order oops! lol ![]() What's she like? Comes in often with her little daughter. First time she came through my line. ![]() What's she like? Very pleasant. Came in to buy flowers with her daughter. Had a pretty red tan. ![]() What's he like? Came in with a girl to buy beer, and let her do the full transaction they were giggling. So, did not really get to talk to him. ![]() What's he like? Very cool guy! was told he comes in all the time but this was the first time he came through my line. Had a big order. Asked him, "big order today huh?" he said, "Always, I always have a bigh order". One of the most memorable customers being he was on one of my favorite shows of all time. Just could not ask him for and autograph with him being a regular customer did not want to ailienate him.updated 4/2/02Came in to buy fire wood and kind of got frustrated with himself because he did not exactly know how to use our ATM. Still a pretty cool guy. ![]() What's she like? When she first came thru my line all she said was "paper please." The courtesy clerk and I were talking through the transaction and she just kept quiet pretty much the whole time. She used her credit card and I read the name on it and I told her, "well Ms. Jones nice to meet you I love your music." she said, "Thank you." The courtesy clerk helped her out to her car. She did not smile but she was pleasant. ![]() ![]() Updated 9/22/01 ![]() Updated 11/14/01 ![]() ![]() ![]() Kelly invited me to a taping of the reunion show on the Paramount lot, and although; it may have seem that we were not going earlier this week it all came out just great. Got into the taping about 5:30p.m and got out about 8:30 it ran kind of long. But, it was fun because at the end they both signed our lyric sheet of the theme song that was given to us at the beginning of the taping. Both ladies were nice to us as they signed our sheet ~Williams signed my name correctly what a trooper~. Marshall had to have a smoke during the taping break, and was slighty annoyed once in a while with the show's director. Williams was trying to be patient at the same time I can see the frustration in her face. ~Divas I tell Ya.~ Kelly won a keychain and T-shirt from making monkey noises lol. I got to ask Marshall and Williams an audience question that may be in the show. Who Knows? I will be excited if does make the show. They also gave us candy to keep us busy. We had a fun night. Updated4/06/02 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Updated 05/09/02 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Well, Audra (Co-worker) and I arrived about 1:30, which we're told that's when the first act went on. But, had learned India Arie had already been on, and as we were going to our seat Vanessa Carlton was already performing. Our seats were not bad but we headed up to the top of the stadium because that's were the shade was, still, the sun which was already felt by hiking from the car to the stadium. Let's say it was about mid to high 90s. Now, we didn't want to loose our seats so we both took turns throughout the day saving seats. Every act did a superb job all except one: Kelly Osbourne. She was off key from the moment she started and just could not seem to catch on. She stayed with the music, but I think her voice was not well trained, and neither was she when it came to listening to herself through stadium speakers. I believe she was pushed into a venue that she definitely was not ready for. Now, let's talk about my headache. Basically feeling fine the whole day, but almost immediately after lunch my head was getting to the point where listening to the music was getting un-bearable. That started basically when Alanis Morrisette began her act. Not that she was nauseating, but I just had to go outside the stadium. At this time I am sitting in the shade trying to get it together. Then that wave of nausea hit me and I started to look for a place to heave, and I found it. We won't go there. So, feeling a bit better, and Pink has already started on stage but, my head was not quite up to the noise. I said to myself, "I am not going to miss this," so, I held it together and stood and watched Pink perform. The rest of the concert was spent in and out of my seat. Anytime the music got too hard on my head I left. It's dark now and much cooler; it's time for the group "No Doubt." She rocked! By this time I am better, but now I am tired. So, lucky for me when I asked Audra did she want to leave after No Doubt she was in total agreement. The concert had about a good 45 minutes more so we managed to beat traffic. The concert on a whole was excellent I just wished it wasn't so darn hot. Updated 06/20/02 ![]() Updated 06/29/02 ![]() Updated 07/02/02 ![]() ![]() Updated 07/03/02 ![]() ![]() Updated 07/25/02 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The only way I can describe the event, three words, COOLEST NIGHT EVER ! I invited sis 'o mine to come and seatfill with me. So, she came down and off we go. They shuffle us into the lovely Kodak theater, and we both sat right near the entrance. Here is list of people we saw enter: Natalie Cole- Singer Ray Romano- Everybody loves Raymond Gabrielle Carteris- 90210 Valarie Bertinelli- Sporting a new short hair cut. Can't believe she cut it! David Faustino- Married with Children Shiela E.- musician Billy Boyd~ Pippin in the Lord of the Rings. "Hog Heaven I tell Ya !" Nancy Odell~ Access Hollywod Alex Band~ Lead singer of "The Calling." Jennifer Sky~Zenia Warrior Princess Couple of cast members from "Mad T.V" Shannon Elizabeth~American Pie People we met: Coolio- Rapper. Introduced ourselves, and he asked where we were from. Cool guy.lol Kato Kaelin- Famous house guest. Totally working the house. And, so were sis and I. lol Contestant Justin Guarini's Father- Very cool man. He said, "Small people gonna rule the world." I responded with, "you got that right." And, he also gave May and I a big hug. Alyson Hannigan- Told her, "My husband loves you." She said, "Oh wow thank you." When we got home Matt went crazy. Paula Abdul story: Mayette and I decided to go to the bathroom during the comercial break. Mayette got in line, and I washed my hands. But, the automatic faucet was not working for me so I was going down the line testing each one. While that was going on a couple of the girls kind of give out a loud shreek. Then I checked to see what was going on. Looked at the line and saw no one. In my mind I was thinking, "why were they sreaming? there were no celebs in here." So, I yelled underneath the stall, "May I am going to go get a Sprite," she responded, "o.k." So, we both make it back to our seats, and she tells the guy sitting next to us that she just ran into Paula Abdul. I interrupt her immediately and said, "Where?" She says, "in the bathroom, didn't you see her?" I say no, and she tell me that's what we all were yelling for. Then sis proceeds to tell me that Paula asked, "are you guys in line?" my sister freaked and said, "oh my god, yes, but go ahead." So, my sis let Paula Abdul pee before her. And, while all that was going on some little girl was showing me how to use the automatic faucets. lol The cast of American Idol passed right by our seats during the performance. I thought that was pretty cool. But, most of all, finding out who the winner was before most west coast people was pretty cool. Anyway, great event to end the summer. Updated 09/04/02 ![]() ![]() (Updated 09/28/02) ![]() ![]() Updated 10/06/02 ![]() ![]() (Updated 10/06/02) ![]() ![]() ![]() pictures are still up and available for your viewing pleasure in the "My photo album" section Updated 12/05/02 ![]() ![]() ![]() Updated 12/16/02 ![]() ![]() The evening started with husby and I picking up the free tickets at will call. Tickets were scored by me just two days before by being caller 102 Woo Hoo ! First two acts were Paul Okenfold (Stary eyed surprise) and Kelly Osbourne (Papa Don't Preach): Both sucked. Their bands were better than they were. Osbourne did better than last time (Wango Tango), but her voice still is not strong enough. Next, Nick Carter, he was more polished and had more stage presence. But, his silly antics with trying to tear up the stage left something to be desired. For Example; throwing the artificial poinsettia's into the audience, knocking over speakers, and literaly trying to knock down one of the main stage pilars. "Yea Right!" Just plain silly but, enjojed watching him. Timberlake did very well, considering his broken foot. He was the one I really wanted to see because I had never seen him in concert. (Came home literaly wanting to do some of his dance moves.) After that, Rick Dees came out with Santa's helpers and with these air guns, shot free t-shirts into the audience. I did not catch one, but thought it was very cool because these things shot T-shirts way out there for everyone in the stadium to catch. There also was a visit from Ming Na (tv show ER). She came out with Rick Dees to introduce an Asian act she's producing. Forgot the name of the group, sorry. I just learned the name of the group. The name of the group is "At Last". (Updated 10/30/03)Anyway, they did a song in aucapela. Next, Husby's favorite was Avril Lavigne. She has a nice voice for concerts, clear and loud enough to hear, she did great. You should have seen plenty of the girls walking around with their shirt and ties trying to look like Avril. Too funny! Then, Destiney's Child came on like pros singing (Independent Woman.) What can I say about these girls but, totally professionals. Now, during Kelly Rowland's song "Dilema" (no, Nelly was not there.) We decided we need some food so, we went into the lobby and wolfed down Der'Weinerschnetzel hot dogs. Surprisingly, I must have been hungry because I beat husby in finishing mine. After that we decided we needed to recover from our nose bleeds given to us by our seats. So, during The Goo Goo Dolls performance we snuck on ground level. Man, it was a whole new experience viewing it from that level. Plus, The Goo Goo Dolls rocked the house with all their songs. Loved em, and so did husby. Mariah Scary, I mean Mariah Carey, she came on with much fan fare, but, she did great. Sang two songs, "Through the rain," and finished with a holiday didy that got everyone in the mood, "All I want for Christmas is you." Was not really excited to see her, but glad we stayed to check her out. They blasted fake snow during her song which was pretty cool. Well, time for Kylie Minogue, Not! We rushed out because we believe in getting through traffic rather than staying for some lil Aussie woman. Heard she only sang two songs anyway, nothing missed.lol Ran into some major rain on the way home, but Concert was fun, what can I say. ![]() ![]() ![]() (Updated 02/09/03) ![]() Updated 02/13/03 ![]() ![]() Martin Mull Shirley Jones Davy Jones Barry Williams Maureen McCormick Susan Olsen Christopher Knight Ted Danson Todd Bridges Reba McEntire Kathy Najimy Doris Roberts Gavin MacLeod Bernie Kopell Don Knotts William Shatner James Doohan Lee Majors Randolph Mantooth Butch Patrick Don Grady Stanley Livingston Barry Livingston Cast of American Dreams Erin Murphy Keisha Knight Pulliam Henry Winkler Lee Meriwether Barbara Billingsley Jerry Mathers Barbara Eden Barbara Feldon David Cassidy Dick Clark Dick Van Dyke Don Adams Donna Mills Joan Van Ark Mary Tyler Moore Rose Marie Updated 03/03/03 ![]() ![]() Updated 03/05/03 ![]() Updated 03/11/03 ![]() ![]() Frankie Muniz- Malcolm in the Middle Bryan Cranston~Malcolm in the Middle Erik Per Sullivan~Malcolm in the Middle/Unfaithful Chris Kirkpatrick~Nsync Donald Faison~Scrubs Jason Gedrick~Boomtown Ashton Kutcher~That 70's show Nick and Drew Lachey~98 Degrees Lil Bow Wow~Like Mike Jonathan Lipnicki~Jerry Maguire M Nikke Teasley~WNBA LA Sparks Flex Alexander~UPN's One on One Mark Cuban~Owner of Dallas Mavericks Arlen Escarpeta~American Dreams Celebrity Host JoJo Wright from LA's radio station KIIS 102.7 and Lou Dunbar from the Harlem Globetrotters Husby scores tickets at the last minute for this event. So last minute we almost did not get tickets for the sold out event,(made available via email for Fox employees only. So, being that Husby is an employee and I being the Mrs. on to the event we go. Husby picks me up after work, and we head on over the Santa Monica Crossroads High school gym, and as soon as we walk in the celeb players are warming up to pop/hip hop tunes, and so I pull out my camera and start snaping away at the guys doing their layout. Love this type of event because cameras were allowed. The players go back into the locker room, and then later introduced. But, like all sporting events the National Anthem must be sung and, Jessica Simpson does an excellent job. Nick Lachey, her new hubby, I am sure was proud. The celebs are divided into two teams, Malcolm in the Middle and the Cody Banks team. Muniz switches at half time and manages to play on both teams, (a classy move.) First half of the game is played with plenty of excitement, and all the guys played pretty good for celebs. Next, the half time show a local dance group performs, and then Lalaine from Disney's "Lizzie Maguire" sings some cheesy pop song she is trying to push. Also, they give Muniz a gift for organizing the event, and for being the foundation's "Good Will Ambassador." Plus, the organization gives his mother Denise a gift for all her help, then the whole team takes a group picture. O.k now here comes the fun part. About 10 min after the second half of the game began I am getting some shots at the sidelines, (which is allowable) while husby is sitting at our seats. The game gets close to me, now, I am not taking pictures at the time I am just watching the game, and just like in slow motion the ball gets passed my way by Donald Faison (Scrubs), and as Arlen Escarpeta from (American Dreams) is trying to get the ball he backs into me and knocks me down. LOL It kinda hurt but, it all becomes better when Escarpeta helps me up with his sweaty hands and graciously ask, "are you o.k ?" I responded with yes. Then one of the event coordinators pointed toward the bleachers and said with a smile on her face, "maybe you should stand over there." Being a little embarrassed, I gave her this look of, "yea your right," and there is where I stayed for the rest of the game. The game was less than two hours, and throughout the night they gave some free stuff away, and played a few games with the audience. So, actually the teams had plenty of rest time in between all the fun. The pooper of the evening was Chris Kirkpatrick who played just a couple of quarters and sat it out for a good portion of the game. When it was time for Muniz to switch to the other team Kirkpatrick hung out on the other side, and warmed up with the opposing team. It was like he did not like his team mates or did not want to leave Muniz's side or something. Whatever ? The game was totally fun, and a very nice way to spend indoors considering the nasty rainy weather that had gone on all day. Plus, how often does one get knocked on her ass in front of a bunch of celebs ? Updated 03/17/03 ![]() Husby and I make it back from the Bay Area about 4p.m so, we barely had enough time to get dressed for our Oscar event. The event gave us free valet parking so we just zoomed in. At check in we gave them our ballot to predict the oscar winners, and then proceeded to the food. It was a mexican buffet: Mini burritos, Chips and Salsa, Shish Kebabs, Cheese and Crackers, Fruit, Taquitos, and though not a mexican dish, they also served Armenian Sandwiches, huh? Needless to say, the food was great. It's time for the Oscars. Fun parts of the show: 1.) Halle Berry getting smooched hard by (Best Actor) winner Adrien Brody 2.)Zeta-Jones and Latifah singing "I move on" What happened Renee? Too afraid to sing in front of all those people? Scared they might find out you can't sing live? 3.)Also loved, Adrien Brody's emotional acceptance speech. Very touching and poignant moment of the evening. 4.) Michael Moore's (Bowling for Columbine) acceptance speech. Just loved how he got everyone riled up. Could have done it a bit less aggressive, but it was a speech no one would forget. (Love Martin's Teamster joke afterward) 5.) Martin's monologue. 6.) Favorite Winners: Zeta-Jones-(Best Supporting Actress, Eminem-(Best Song Lose yourself), Chicago-(Best Movie) 7.) Fun part of the night was me winning a big tote bag from Paramount Studios filled with baseball cap, frisby, beach towel, two t-shirts, (all with the Paramount logo on it) and, a fun guide for the best of L.A. Plus, Husby won four free movie tickets for the theater of his choice. Woo Hoo! Bad Parts of the show: Nicole Kidman's acceptance speech. (Peeuu) That really is the only thing I did not like about the show, Overall; the show's pace was fine, and the mood was not as somber as I thought it was going to be. Glad the producers still wanted to air the show. Thought it was mean to eliminate the red carpet audience. I mean what have been the harm. They have everyone's private information who was going to be on that red carpet. Well, all things aside, it was fun to watch this years show with a crowd because you get to see all the reactions and chow down at the same time. So, who knows? We would not mind doing this event it again next year. Updated 03/24/03 ![]() ![]() ![]() Updated 04/28/03 ![]() ![]() Updated 05/26/03 ![]() ![]() Updated 05/26/03 ![]() I was very excited meeting Ms. Baxter because Family Ties is one of my all time favorite 80's sitcoms. She was with her daughter just buying some stuff from the deli, and I did my usual greeting. She didn't have her club card and she kind of got a little frustrated that she did not bring it. But, when I asked for her number her daughter said, "Yea, mom you can give your number". With that she calmed down and the both of them in sync repeated their phone number. It was funny the way the did it because it sounded like some mother and daughter act auditioning or something. Not too many of my customers do that. In fact, I will probably say that was a first for me. Anyway, we completed the transaction and, it being Mothers Day weekend I wished her happy Mothers Day and she sweetly thanked me. Updated 05/13/03 ![]() ![]() Updated 05/24/03 ![]() Husby and I have been contempating this little trip for a while now. Very interesting artifacts such as: Clothing, dishes, money, jewelery, bottles, hair brushes, mirrors. And, probably the most interesting articfact was a twenty foot piece of the ship that they recovered in 1998. They also recreated the ship's famous stairway, and a few of the ship cabins and hallways. Also, before you enter the exhibit you receive this card that has information on a passenger that was actually on the Titanic. Near the end of the exhibit is a list of those who survived and those who did not. My passenger miraculously survived, and unfortunately husby's passenger did not. If anyone finds themselves in the area should check this one out. The exhibit will be there till Sept. 2003. Updated 06/02/03 ![]() ![]() Janice, our newest assistant store manager was lucky enough to check out Nick, and I was lucky enough to be in the checkstand next to them. It's about 7:30 p.m, I am winding up my last transaction, and I happen to gaze into the next checkstand. There I saw this beautiful blonde thing grabbing his groceries getting ready to leave. He saw me look at him. I think I had this look on my face that said, "Hey, I recognize you," but, I was too star struck that I couldn't get the words out to ask him for an autograph. I thought it was a nice end to a day that started out crappy because earlier I got a lecture on the evils of tardiness from my jerk of a assistant manger. Updated 06/01/03 This just in: Saturday afternoon 06/07/03 Nick comes through my line. First entering the line is this heavy set dude. Looks like a bodyguard or something. He lays his items on the conveyer belt, (small coke, candy, chips) while Nick is looking through a magazine. Even though it is busy I don't rush him, I just let him look at the magazine while I take a breather (At this time I couldn't tell it was Nick). Anyway, Nick kinda tosses the magazine on the conveyer belt, (one of those teen beat type mags) it was like o,k I will take this. Comes closer, and the guy is wearing a hooded sweat shirt, with the hood on covering his head. I Look him in the eye and realize it's Nick. He kinda says hi, and we do our thing, then I end the transaction. I can tell he didn't want me making a big deal him being there so, I didn't. He was trying to have this tough guy thing going, but wasn't working.Updated 06/10/03 ![]() It was a cloudy humid Sunday afternoon, and thought I would kill some time at Tower Records on Sunset. First I go to the video annex of Tower down the street to buy a DVD, then walk back up to my car which is parked on the main parking lot. A red sporty Mercedes parks right next to my car, and as I am walking to my car two bleach blondes get out. At a distance already, I am saying to myself, "Hey, that looks like Kelly Osbourne". She was with her friend from the T.V series. Kelly and I are looking at each other like we know each other, but kind of afraid to ask, "Do I know you?" kinda thing. She walks in front of my car slowly, and starts to dodle a little and check out the album covers on the store wall. I get to my car and I bleep the alarm, and it startles the both of them. They kinda giggle because my car alarm let me tell ya, it sometimes is obnoxiously loud. It scares the hell out of many people. I was going to say something to them, but they caught me off guard. I call Tower a little later and ask the cashier if Kelly was there earlier, and she said yes. I just had to confirm the sighting. ![]() ![]() Now, the review of the show. Three words FUN ! FUN ! FUN ! Mamma Mia is the story of Donna Sheridan (Tina Walsh) and her daughter Sophie (Jill Paice) who run an Inn on one of the Greek Islands. Sophie is getting married soon, but does not know who her father is so, she figures out who they might be by reading her mother's diary, and invites all the three men to her wedding. This show has no real elaborate costumes or sets, but what it does have is Abba's all time favaorite hits set up in the most creative way. Stand out performance goes to one of the principle players Jennifer Perry (Rosie-a friend of Donna Sheridan). Her rendition of Abba's (Take a chance on me) is a show stopper. Another crowd pleaser is the musical's finale which just gets everyone up dancing and clapping, something I have never seen done in all the musicals I have seen. Husby and I decided to stick around to meet some of the cast members after the show. We managed to get three of the principle players from the show to sign our program. All humble, pleasant woman to talk to. One of them lived in Studio City. Right next door to our town. What a cawinkadink. Check this show out if it comes to your town. Updated 06/26/03 ![]() Husby and I start our nineth anniversary week with a little splurge time at The Venetian. Man what a place! First, we couldn't have asked for better weather. Mid to high 80's throughout our stay. No tripple digits ! Yea! Now, when you drive up for check in you are greeted with Italian songs being serenaded by a gentleman dressed in an ole Italy costume. In fact many of the hotel staff are dressed that way (how cute). We check in and make our way up to our suite and it is equipped with everything: mini bar, two T.V's (one for the living area and one for the bedroom area), marble bathroom floors, glass shower, a view overlooking the fabulous pool area, fax machine for the business men, and his and hers bath robes. (two of which we purchased to bring home for ourselves)LOL, phone in the crapper even. (pics of the room will be up soon) We are hungry now so we head over to the Paris hotel for the best buffet in town called "Le Village Buffet" (Don't get me started on the food there). We come back to our hotel to get the layout of the place, Venetian has it's own: Built in canal with Gandolas, High end shops, swimming pool, spa, Godiva Chocolates (our home away from home), restaurants for every type of taste bud., a wax museum, etc, etc.. I then proceed to throw sixty bucks down the toilette and knew that was the end of my gambling for the rest of our stay. Now, to wind down our day we head up to our room and order Colin Farrell's movie "Phone Booth" (review is posted BTW) Next day, in true Matt and Yvette fashion we wake up late and head for a late breakfast at Carrows. We then do a little shopping for Husby, (He needed some evening duds) We head over to St. Marks Square at our hotel and visit with the street venders, and entertainers. Once again it is back to our room to get dressed for our dinner at New York's Gallagher's Steakhouse, and then on to the show Mamma Mia at Mandalay Bay. (review is posted above) After a wonderful evening full of fun, and a relaxing stay, it is check out time now :( but, not before we eat and take some tourist pictures, and check out the pool area. O.k now, we have lingered around Vegas long enough, time to go, and as the bell hop loads our luggage into the car he wished us back again. In fact many of the staff who knew we were leaving, wished us back again. I bet they did "cha ching" ~cash register sounds~ Only thing is we did not get to ride the Gondolas. By the time we were ready to ride they were unavailable: Something about being a tad windy for safe manouvering. Oh well, no biggie. We make it back home about sevenish, and still wanting some fun, we head on over to Universal City Walk for some Tony Roma ribs, and the latest flick, "The Hulk" (review is also up) So, right now my catching my breath to wind up the leg of my vacation all to which ending festivities are still pending. Updated 06/26/03 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Actually, I was almost going to miss this one because the view, and security was playing a big factor in whether this event was worth my time. But, glad we went. Husby and fellow celeb hound Kelly were among the spectators for this one. First cast member to show was (Thomas Ian Nicholas (Kevin,) and he was nice enough to come over to greet and sign autographs, along with; Eugene Levy (Jim's Dad), Eddie Kaye Thomas, (Finch) Seann William Scott (Stifler). Nikki Zerring who has a scandalous part in the film showed up with her boobs and all. Plus, Jennifer Coolidge (Stifler's Mother) who when she walked by some of the crowd members they began chanting (M.I.L.F) If you watched the first American Pie you will understand that term. Unfortunately, the stinker of the night was Jason Biggs (Jim) who felt no need to greet the fans and, just waved to everyone as he walked away. Biggs by all means does not owe the general public a thing, and that is his choice not to greet the fans. But, when you are the leading man, and you want people to see your movie, you better get off your arse and do a little PR work. But, the nice girl of the evening was Alyson Hannigan who so generously took time to sign many autographs and take a picture with me. More pictures will be posted soon. Husby's camera was acting up so he missed out on our shot, but I gave info. to a young girl who says she took the picture of Alyson and I posing, and will send it to me. Husby is still kicking himself for not capturing a moment from one of his favorite actresses. Anyway, Hannigan was one of the last cast members to arrive. So, we decided to take the party to Kelly's place where her hubby Brian put together a nice spaghetti dinner while we watched: the man, the myth, the legend, John Travolta. He finally got an episode of the show "The Actors Studio" that was recorded by Bri and Kelly's new Tivo machine. What a nice gadget. Also, to wind down the evening we all munched out on chocolate cake and ice cream. Delicious! What a fun night : ) Updated 07/26/03 ![]() ![]() ![]() Husby and I are on a Southwest flight to Vegas for his birthday. Did not see mister Clark when we boarded, but half way into the flight Husby told me that the guy next to him said Dick Clark was on the flight. I said to him, "Yea, right what would he be doing on this flight? He probably has his own airline" Husby pointed to a gentleman across the asile two rows up, and I looked, and said, "that's not him" Then I glanced again for a better look and he turned his head a bit more and I got a better look at him. Then I said to Husby, "that is him..." So, when we landed I got out our camera, and was going to take a picture of Clark removing his suitcase from the over head bins, but decided to wait till we got into the terminal. Unfortuneately, with Clark's good headstart off the plane we couldn't catch up to him, also, too many people in the way. Then he just ducked out somewhere quickly. There were a couple of other passengers on our flight wispering, and pointing, "Did you see Dick Clark he was on our flight, the guy's over there" We said, we know we are trying to catch up to him. Anyway, it just kind of tickled us silly knowing the vast loads of cash this man has, and was taking a flight to Vegas that cost us twenty nine dollars each. Updated 10/12/03 ![]() DON'T STAY THERE Three reasons: 1) Check-in time is three p.m. We check-in close to three, and the room was not ready. 2) Husby and I were willing to forgive and forget reason one, but, when housekeeping calls our room the next day about 12 p.m (right before we were leaving our room for a few hours) asking, "When will you be leaving the room so we can fix the bed...?" We thought that was very rude, and un-professional, and to say the least very un-customer service like behavior. 3) The clincher~ After two days it was time for that all familiar noon time checkout, but Husby scheduled our flight out of Vegas for 9 p.m which left a huge window to mess around in town. I said no problem Ill just call front desk and we'll just do a late check-out. I call the front desk, and the lady said we are not accepting late check-out because we are all booked. I let her know our situation, but she just couldn't do it there is a convention going on, blah blah blah... We even had to go downstairs late at night because we had to open our account to order in movies because at check in time the dork didn't leave our credit card open. Duh! like, we were not going to spend anymore during our stay. Do they not want our business. The hotel was busy with a few conventions, hell the whole town was busy, but, that doesn't mean you cannot provide good service. Plus, the hotel is losing the pirate image (something they could have let us know earlier) and, going for a more adult atmosphere. So, the marquee was being changed, and they dumped their main attraction the pirate show. Not a good direction the hotel is taking. So, we initially had to pay extra to get an earlier flight out because it was an internet special, and when you get a special you can't just move your flight time around. I also was not willing to leave our luggage at the hotel for six hours or more, and hang around Vegas all that time without a room. It may sound princess of me, but we had already done quite a bit prior to check-out and I certainly was not in the mood to just bum around the airport. Now, up until then we had a wonderful time in Vegas: we finally got to ride the gondolas at the Venetian (Now thats a hotel who knows about customer service), had a great steak dinner at Gallaghers in New York, sat and relaxed to a cool 80's band, did some mean shopping, and got my nails done, Husby got a massage. Like I said had fun in Vegas, but just remember what I said flokes. Tell all your friends and family to forget about Treasure Island. Updated 10/13/03 ![]() ![]() Husby and I make our way into Westwood about 4p.m, and we meet up with Audra (coworker). As early as we thought we were, lets just say that 4p.m was not early enough. The place was crawling with wall to wall fans on each end of the street. The premiere was taking place in two theaters, so, the New Line people organized it to where one whole street between the theaters was used as the red carpet. We tried to get into the supposed prime spot, Starbucks, but they were not allowing anymore people through. It's just as well because for some reason not one celeb made their way over to Starbucks. Hum? They allowed the celebs to cross the busy street to greet fans, which I thought was just too silly. Anyway, we found a spot that allowed to us to see what was going on, but not one celeb made their way over. In fact, I was laughing because I heard one girl complaining to security that she and her friends paid to stand at Starbucks, and that she deserved her money back because no one came over. The security guy said, "Your talking to the wrong people, I have nothing to do with that." This poor girl didn't realize that these events are hit or miss, and that's why I personally don't really care to go to these things. It has to be someone I really want to see to get me out there. But, we did managed to get a good look at Orlando Bloom (Legolas). He was the hero of the evening. He signed autographs, gave hugs, and waves; plus, after he did the round of entertainment reporters, he came out again. Unfortunately, Mr. Wood (Frodo) was late. He was doing the Jay Leno show right before the premiere, and got caught up in traffic. I did see the Leno show, and another reason why he was late, he stayed for the whole taping. Im telling ya the boy needs to do what all the other celebs do. Take off when your segment is finished! You have another engagement to attend! Umm, cough, YOUR PREMIERE!) Anyway, lets give the guy a break. Maybe he thought the traffic was not going to be so bad, so he decided to stay for the whole show. So, basically when he arrived to the premiere, he ran into the theater. He kind of got a few boos. Interesting enough, Wood's Mother, and Sister were hanging out having a cigarette right near where we stood. I was going to call them over, but they looked kind of stressed, and way to preoccupied. And, I believe if I called to them, I don't think they would have appreciated the attention. So, I held back. Boo for me. Now, everyone is in the theater, so, we decided to head on over to have some dinner at The Olive Garden down the street. After we finished dinner we were waiting by the elevator that takes you to the parking garage, and we stood by Fred Willard (Best in Show, American Wedding). We struck up a conversation with the guy, and I asked him, "Your Fred Willard, right?", and he responded with, "yes." I told he we saw him at the American Wedding Premiere. He nodded, and asked, "Did you see one and two?" We told him we did, and he was going to say the movie did pretty well, "money wise," but he kind of held back and used another term. Guess he thought we wanted to talk numbers, but we didn't. I think it's kind of pretentious. We also told him that we were just over at the LOTR premiere, and he said to his wife, "Oh, so that's whats going on over there.." We also told him that it was crazy over there. It was funny because he looked at his wife like, "why weren't we invited?" So, he was nice to talk to. Anyway, that was the extent of our celeb encounter. We should have got out there much earlier, but I heard some people were there at about 4 am., and I surely was not about to get out there that time of the day. Updated 01/10/04 ![]() ![]() Husby convinces me to join him for Ash Wednesday mass at Good Shepherd church in Beverly Hills. It's a pretty packed mass so, we ended up standing. It wasn't too bad because those standing were first to receive the ashes and communion. After communion we went to stand back where we stood. Then not long after we made it back to our spot Mark Whalberg comes walking down the isle. He was dressed in jeans and a green sweater, and looked scruffy. Pretty much like he just woke up. He stops to greet a guy that stood right near me. They said, "What up?" to each other, and shook hands with the one handed buddy embrace right in front of me. Not long after they did this some guy handed Whalberg a white envelope. I thought it was a guy trying to get an autograph right there in church. But, I believe it was some type of mail Whalberg left at his seat, and the guy was returning it too him. After the guy gave the envelope to him, Whalberg said, "Oh, thanks man, God bless you..." So, mass is finished and we head outside. We then see Whalberg walking down the street going in the opposite direction alone. I believe I heard he has a place not too far from the church. Unfortunately, once again it wasn't those opportune times, so, we didn't approach. We just found it funny Marky Mark actually in church. Updated 02/26/04 ![]() Billy Crystal returns from a break, and shows he still is one of the Academy's beloved master of ceremonies. Glad to see he brought back the musical intro that he made so famous. It's such a huge undertaking for a host, but he does it so professionally. Really happy for Charlize Theron winning best actress. Just days before the Oscars I saw her performance in Monster, and truly thought this award was well deserved. Adrien Brody's award presentation to Theron was a classic moment. What a take off of last years Halle Berry smooch. The breath spray will be remembered for many years. And, nice to see they awarded Sean Penn for his many years of good work. Another moment was Jack Black and Will Ferrell singing made up lyrics to the cut away speech song. The two of them were priceless. Loved all the musical numbers, and "Into the West" by Annie Lennox was also a well deserved win. Such a nice melodic, and well written song. Let's hear it for "LOTR: Return of the King" for a clean sweep of all eleven nominations. So proud of this piece of work. It's nice to see a film generate such excitement; not seen since the 1997 epic Titanic. Also, no real surprising winners this year, and glad they also stayed away from the heavy stage production numbers. Not that I dislike dancing and singing, but the're usually a waste of valuable award time. Plus, seeing Travolta and Wood in the same room is just too much to handle. On a personal note, in Sept. 2002 my sister and I were at the Kodak Theater for American Idol. And, I clearly remember where we sat. It just totally thrills me that during this years Oscar broadcast: The LOTR Gang were sitting in our exact seats. Right hand side; seats closest to the double doors. I believe Peter Jackson was in my seat. Watch out folks ! Two great arses in the same seat ! Overall, the broadcast was well done and filled with some genuine memorable moments.
