The "Hidden Agenda" | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
These are the written, and sometimes unwritten, rules of behavior which all schools (all places of employment, for that matter) have. "The Hidden Agenda" is not all that hidden really. You can probably point to a string of kids you know who are always getting into trouble. You can probably also point to a string of kids who do quite well. Think about how each member of each group behaves, and you will have identified the key points. They are surprisingly similar to the study skills you need for grade success! If you're still not sure, click on the Hidden Agenda button below and take a quick little quiz below to see how you score... |

Below are the standards you should follow if you want to swing open the doors to your future success. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Be punctual. Show up on time, and hand in assignments on time. Follow instructions. Ask questions if you are unclear. Take notes on instructions. Present yourself well: Be clean, dress neatly and display a respect for other's rights and feelings. Also, see The Right Way to Turn in Assignments. Don't skip school unless you are sick. Learn to speak and write well. There is no quicker way to open a door to a job. Put enthusiasm into everything you do, especially the things that seem dull. Give 110 percent, and your grades and enjoyment of school will reflect it. Know when to fold 'em: Be responsible enough to recognize when you can't fulfill a commitment, and tell those who will be affected as soon as you know. Provide an alternative whenever possible. AND FINALLY... Walk the walk: You've heard the saying, "If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's probably a duck." Students who sit in the last row and don't pay attention, who talk when the teacher is talking, or play around instead of doing their work, are probably bad students. Act like a good student: pay attention, sit up front, walk the walk! |
