Health: Fitness and Nutrition are big factors in a Martial Artist's well being. So keep in mind what information is offered as it may very well help you on your way to improve your skill as well as prolong health. |
Nutrition is a factor if you are wanting your body to be at its best. The proper intake of supplements and food can increase energy. For those of us who are active and wanting to gain more strength and muscle the recommended daily allownece for vitamins, minerals and foods are not enough. The more you train the more your body needs then the average person who does not. For example: to ensure your body builds and/or keeps muscle it is best to consume 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight or take ginseng to increase oxygen uptake/respiration. To increase your metobolic rate its better to consume 5 to 6 smaller meals vice eating 3 "squares" a day. It taxes your body less and since the meals are smaller its stores less for reserves(fat ) and you'll also have more energy. A good weight training program is also a good thing to have. Weight training will help you increase your strength or external power and increase energy and well being. However everyones build and goals differ. So to better help you access where you stand as far as your build and to have a better idea how to weight train... the below is offered as a guideline. You may even share characteristics of severeal catergories but go with the one that most fits you. BODY TYPES- Suggested workouts, diets & supplementation: ECTOMORPH- Delicate build, long thin arms and legs, fast metabolism, little bodyfat, takes longer to build muscle. MESOMORPH- Rectangular shape in Men/hourglass in Women, naturally muscular, minimal bodyfat, can easily gain or loss weight, builds muscle quickly. ENDOMORPH- Roundshape and softer overall, short full arms and legs that taper to slim wrists and ankles, slow metabolism, difficulty losing weight, great deal of bodyfat, builds muscle easily.
