Literature Circle Group |
Our assignment is the literature circle. In the circle you choose a book to read. Then you come together and you talk about your book. All of the books we read were on the holocaust. This is what we learned about the holocaust. We learned about the concentration camps the Jews were sent to, what Hitler did, the Jews had bands on their arms so that the Germans could identify them. Germans hate Jews and Jews are nice but Germans just don't like them. We all liked learning about Germans, Jews, and Nazis. We also liked that we got to read, and the stories were great. The last thing we liked was how all of the stories were about the Holocaust. |

Our class has been learning about the Holocaust. Since we had been learning about it Mrs.Fradley invited Mr. & Mrs.Solent to our class. They are two people that lived through through the Holocaust! They lived in Poland. They met each other in Poland and moved to America together. Mrs. Solent lived in the ghetto. The ghetto was a small place that was surrounded by a wall. There were a lot of other Jews that lived in the ghetto. When they entered the ghetto, they took all of their valuables away from them. If valuables were found, the Nazis would kill them. Mrs. Solent's mother sewed rings, watches, and jewels into the rim of the coat. When Mrs. Solent was only 4, she pushed out some bricks from the wall and crawled out when no one was watching. Now you know about Mrs. Solent and her experience in the ghetto. Mr. Solent lived in a village and escaped when the Germans came. They walked up a mountain and decided he would slide down the other side and hopefully land somewhere the Germans weren't. We thought it was great that Mr. & Mrs.Solent came. I thought it was great because even though they lived through a horrible time it still needs to be talked about. So we can prevent it from happing again. Now you know about the holocaust and what we learned. |

Cultural Diversity Book Reflection |
Our class had to learn about the Holocaust. We did a Cultural Diversity Book project with the Holocaust books. The books we read were about accepting other people, Cultural differences, and judging. What we learned from the Holocaust books is not to judge people by their color or religion. This project showed us World War 2 and judging was bad and we do not want this to happen again. Our favorite thing about this project was reading the book and reflecting on it because it is fun and interesting. It had to do with the Holocaust because it teaches us the same lesson to not judge people by their skin color, age, or religion. |
