Video Games I've Beaten
This is basically a list of games I've completed from start to finish. No, I'm not a gaming god, but I have beaten quite a few games in my day. For each game, I'll give a brief synoposis of how hard (or easy) it was to complete.
Nintendo
Entertainment System (41 games) Total Games Beaten: 118 Games Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) Bionic Commando I played the hell out of this one as a kid, but the first time I beat it was a few years ago. Difficult, but it wasn't as hard as I remember when I was younger. Blaster Master Played it for years, but I finally beat it not too long ago. It wasn't too hard, just very long. Once I figured out all the tricks, it wasn't too bad. The first time I beat it, I used emulation. However, I beat it legit on the cartridge shortly after. Castlevania I beat this one for the first time back in high school. It's tough, but gets easier with practice. Castlevania II: Simon's Quest Much easier than its prequel, but long. I beat it a few weeks after I finished the first game. Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse A lot of people think that this game is easier than the original Castlevania, but I disagree. This game really, and I mean really challenged me. Nevertheless, I finished it with Grant as my helper. Chip and Dale: Rescue Rangers I used to rent this game every weekend when it first came out, but I was never able to get past the final stage. When emulation started becoming popular in the late 90s, I downloaded the ROM and beat it on an emulator (without using save states). Chip and Dale: Rescue Rangers 2 Beat it on an emulator not too long ago. Overall, it was easy, but the final boss is a bitch. Contra As a kid, I would always use the 30-lives code and play through the game. However, I beat it without using the code for the first time in 2000. It's not as hard as everyone says. Darkwing Duck Beat it when I was in second grade. It was harder than most Disney games, but still easy. Donkey Kong Beat it on my second try. It's short, but frustrating. Dynowarz I finished this ridiculous game a few years ago. It wasn't hard, and the ending sucked. Ducktales Ahh...the first game I ever beat. It's not a hard game, but I remember having trouble with it when I was a kid. I finished it on all three difficulty settings. Ducktales 2 Harder than the first game, but not by much. I beat it the first time I rented it back in 1993. Final Fantasy I beat it on an emulator back in 1999. I didn't use save states, but I did speed things up by using frameskip. Yeah, bitch at me all you want, but the battles in this game are so damn slow. It was a pretty easy game, nonetheless. The Goonies II One of my favorites as a kid. I first beat it on an emulator back in high school. I used save states, but only at the "Game Over" screen. Guerilla War Beat it the first time I played it. The unlimited continues really made this game a breeze. It was fun while it lasted, but I'll probably never play through it again. Jaws I beat it the first time I played it, and haven't played it since. It took me about 25 minutes. Kid Icarus Insanely difficult at first, moderately hard after the first world. It took me a few days to finish. Kirby's Adventure A long game, but very easy. I first beat it when I rented it back in 1993. The Legend of Zelda Of all the NES games I had, I played this one the most. I first beat it in the early 90s, and finished the second quest shortly thereafter. Oddly enough, I didn't have too many problems with the second quest back then (though it owns me nowadays). The Little Mermaid Yeah, I played through this one. It was actually a very fun game, albeit short and easy. Little Samson I beat this game a couple of years ago. It was a bit challenging towards the end, but overall not too bad. Metroid In the early 90s, I beat it a few times using the JUSTIN BAILEY code, but the first I beat it legitimately was in 2000. Not hard, but finding where to go next was always a problem. MegaMan Beat it for the first time a few years ago. It was very challenging, especially when compared to its sequel. MegaMan 2 I beat this one in a few days on the "Easy" mode. I beat it on the "Normal" mode shortly thereafter. The easiest game in the series, but also the most fun. MegaMan 3 Noticing a pattern here? This game was not as easy as I thought it would be, partly because you have to re-fight the bosses from MegaMan 2. MegaMan 4 Of all the games in the series, this one gave me the most trouble (yes, even moreso than MM1). MegaMan 5 I beat this one for the first time when I bought MegaMan Anniversary collection for Gamecube (yes...the one with the awful control scheme). A few tough moments, but overall it was easier than the previous titles. MegaMan 6 This one was about as easy as MegaMan 2. Still a fun game, though. Metal Storm This game didn't take long (about a weekend), but it was very challenging. Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! When I was younger, I could never get past Mr. Sandman. A couple of years ago, however, I beat the game for the first time. Sandman, Macho Man, and Tyson still give me trouble to this day. Ninja Gaiden Dear God - this one took forever to beat! Most of the game wasn't too bad, but the final stage was a bitch! Samurai Pizza Cats I beat this one about a year ago. Don't remember much about it, other than that it was extremely easy. Strider I beat it a few years ago. It was actually pretty easy, save for the last boss. Super C This was definitely harder than Contra. I first beat it using the 10-lives code, but with enough practice I was able to beat it without cheating (and without dying). Super Dodge Ball I beat it a few years ago. It was pretty tough, especially towards the end. Super Mario Bros. Believe it or not, I acutally had this game for a few years before I first beat it (damn you world 8-3). It was tough back then, but I can usually finish it within 10 minutes nowadays. Super Mario Bros. 2 I used to play this game for hours on the NES, but the first time I legitmately beat it was when I recieved Super Mario All-Stars in 1993. It's still the hardest of the NES Mario trilogy. Super Mario Bros. 3 Like SMB2, I played the hell out of this game on the NES, but I first beat it when it was re-released on Super Mario All-Stars. I've beat it with and without warping, and both were not too hard. Zelda II: The Adventure of Link I spent hours playing this game as a kid, but I never got past the second palace. I beat it legitimately for the first time a few years ago. Since then I've played through it at least 10 times. It's a tough game - probably the hardest Zelda game to date. Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) Chrono Trigger I was addicted to this one like crack. It took me about a month to finish. Since then, I've played through it at least a dozen more times. Contra III: The Alien Wars I beat this badass of a game in high school. It took me a few weeks. I never beat it on hard mode, though. Donkey Kong Country I finished this in less than a week, and obtained 101% shortly thereafter. Easy game, but very fun. Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest The greatest platformer on the SNES! This one took me about a month to beat the first time. Definitely harder than the first. I obtained 102% as well. Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble The hardest in the series. Beat it one, never played through it again. Final Fantasy II (IV in Japan) In the mid 90s, I borrowed a friend's copy and made it all the way to the moon. Then my game got erased. I beat it a few years later on an emulator. Final Fantasy III (VI in Japan) I first played this game on Final Fantasy Anthology for PSX. However, by the time I made it to the World of Ruin, I stopped playing because I could tolerate the load times and slowdowns. I found a copy of the SNES game about a year later and beat it without two weeks. Final Fantasy Mystic Quest Made for beginners, I beat this game in about a week. Not the most challenging RPG in the world, but enjoyable nonetheless. Killer Instinct I beat this one a while back using the skeleton guy (Spinal?). Great game. Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past The greatest game ever created. I beat it back in '92/93 for the first time with a whopping 600+ games played! I don't remember how long it took me, but it had to be at least a couple of months. Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals It took me months to beat this one, but that's because I started playing it at around the same time I received an N64. The Magical Quest Starring Mickey Mouse An easy game. Took me about a week to finish. MegaMan X I finished this one in 1994. Aside from the final boss, I didn't have too much trouble with it. MegaMan X2 Beat in on an emulator a couple of years ago. About the same difficulty as the first (although the final boss is ten times easier). MegaMan X3 Beat it shortly after I beat X2. The hardest of the three, no doubt. Mortal Kombat I beat it back in 1994. It wasn't too hard, but those mirror matches sucked. Mortal Kombat II The same difficulty as the first, only longer. Mortal Kombat 3 This game was a little easier than the first two, mostly because of the new running feature. Sparkster I beat this one a couple of years ago when I was addicted to the Rocket Knight series. The final levels are a bitch. StarFox Only beat it on the easy path. I made it about halfway through the other paths. Super Castlevania IV This installment was definitely easier than part III, but there were still some tough moments here and there (namely stage B-2). Super Mario All-Stars (The Lost Levels) I beat the the Lost Levels with Luigi back in 1993. It took me a looooong time. Super Mario Kart I used to rent this game all the time, but I first beat it on 150cc back in 1996, when I finally got my own copy of the game. Super Mario RPG I beat this back in middle school. It was easy, but extremely enjoyable. Super Mario World Beat it a couple weeks after I got it. It was easier than any of the NES Mario games. I also found all 96 exits. Super Metroid I beat this back in the mid-90s. It was definitely easier than the original, but it didn't take too long (a few weeks). Yoshi's Island: Super Mario World 2 Longer than the first one, but still not too tough. It took me about a month. Diddy Kong Racing I beat both adventures, the first taking about a month to finish. Doom 64 I played through this one periodically. As a result, it took me a few months to beat. The final stages were tough. Goldeneye 007 I finished all the stages (including the secret ones) on Agent and Secret Agent. I finished about half of them on 00 Agent. It literally took me months. The Legend of Mystical Ninja: Starring Goemon It took me two rentals to beat this one (two weeks). The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask It took me a year, that's right - a YEAR to beat this game. I played through half of it when I first got it, but stopped playing out of boredom. I let it sit for a year, then picked it up again to finish it. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time It took me a few months to finish this epic of a game. Mario Kart 64 Didn't take long at all. Much easier than the first game. StarFox 64 I beat it about a week after I got it back in 1998. Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire Beat it on Easy when I first got it, then later on the Medium difficulty. Super Mario 64 I beat the third Bowser two weeks after I got the game in 1997. A few weeks later, I got all 120 stars. Sonic Adventure DX Took a couple weeks to beat. It wasn't hard at all. Sonic Adventure 2: Battle This game was actually a challenge. It took me a while to finish all the stages. Sonic Gems Collection (Sonic CD) I beat Sonic CD a few days after I bought the game. Super Smash Bros. Melee I beat both the classic mode and the adventure mode with all the characters on the medium setting. It took a few weeks to accomplish this. Rocket Knight Adventures A challenging game, it got easier the more I practiced. Sonic the Hedgehog The hardest Sonic game. It took me a while to beat. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Long, but easy. The final stage gave me some trouble, though. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Oddly enough, this game was shorter than the previous games in the series. Still easy, though. Sonic and Knuckles Beat it with both Sonic and Knuckles. The Knuckles game was easy, but playing as Sonic was a pain in the ass. World of Illusion: Starring Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck Screw you - this game rocks! I beat it in a week or so after I first played it. Air Combat The first game I beat on the system! Other than the final mission, this game was a breeze. Castlevania Chronicles Beat it on the "arrange" mode a few days after I got it. I'm stuck at the clock tower in the original mode. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night Well, I thought I beat it in a few days after I bought it, but as it turns out I was only halfway through the game. The whole game took me about a month to finish. Chrono Cross It took me a few months to finish. I played through it a second time, too. Final Fantasy VII It took me months to beat this...and I loved every minute of it! Final Fantasy VIII It took me months to beat this too. The easiest Final Fantasy game to date. Final Fantasy IX It took me a year to beat this. Like Majora's Mask, I stopped playing halfway through out of boredom. I picked it up a year later and finished it. MegaMan X4 I finished this excellent addition to the series with both X and Zero. It took me about a week for each. Metal Gear Solid It's been years since I've played it, but I beat this one pretty quickly. I thought it was hard, but that's because I suck at stealth. Final Fantasy X It took me my entire winter break during my sophmore year of college to finish this game. Compared to the PSX games, it was actually pretty challenging. Katamari Damacy This game took less than a week to finish. It was a very fun game, albeit a tad easy. LEGO Star Wars One of the easiest games ever created. I finished it in less than a week. Donkey Kong I beat this updated version of the popular arcade game a few weeks after I got it. Easy, but very long. Kirby's Dream Land I finished this game a few weeks after I got it. I finished the extra mode, too. The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening It took me months to beat this game. Quick story: the first time I made it to final dungeon, my batteries died. Very sad. Metroid II: Return of Samus I beat this one two years ago. It's more confusing than difficult. The last boss sucks, though. Super Mario Land I used to love this game as a kid. I have no idea why. It didn't take long to finish. Super Mario Land 2 Beat it for the first time a few months ago. I made it to Wario's castle years ago, but was never able to beat it. Pokemon: Red Version Yes, I played Pokemon. It took about a month to beat. WarioLand: Super Mario Land 3 I loved this game as a kid. I beat it about a month after I bought it (with my birthday money). The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of the Ages It took me a couple of weeks to beat this game. The puzzles were tough. The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of the Seasons I beat this game three days after I bought it. I liked it better than Ages. Lufia: The Legend Continues This game took me a couple of months to finish. It's easy, but very long (especially for a Game Boy game). Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance I beat this game a few weeks after I bought it. Not hard - I thought it was easier than Symphony of the Night. Metroid Fusion Overall, this game was easy, but the final boss took me awhile to beat. Sonic Advance I actually played through this game for the first time during one of my many lonely nights at work. Due to a snowstorm, there were hardly any customers that night. Doom II I played through the whole game on the default difficulty setting ("Hurt Me Plenty"). Overall, the game is a bit more challenging than the original Doom, thanks to all those wonderful new enemies (damn you, Archvile!) Quake I beat the whole game on the "Easy" difficulty a long time ago. However, I'm sure I'd be able to finish it on "Normal" if I played it again today. Ultimate Doom I finished all three original episodes on the default difficulty ("Hurt Me Plenty"). I even managed to beat the first episode on "Ultra Violence." I've only managed to finish the extra episode, "They Flesh Consumed," on the easiest difficult. A little more practice and I'll probably be able to beat it on the default difficulty. Wolfenstein 3D Well, I'm currently in the process of finishing all six episodes on the hardest difficulty, but as of now I've only been able to finish episodes 1-3. I have, however, finished them all on the easiest difficulty way back when. |
