Conduit

When I was hit with the teaser, and another abduction, I was like , 'Oh Lord, been there, done that.'However, as the ep went on, my intrest peaked. Getting that type of message from the tv was really interesting. It's amazing that just a bunch of ones and zeros could create something so intricate. Also, the idea of Ruby's brother having that type of connection to her was really incredible. Don't we wish we could all have that? I'm sure Mulder felt a bit ... jealous.

As a whole, I don’t like the early eps as much as the later ones, and the abduction stories usually don’t hold my intrest. I am a fan of the other aspects of the paranormal; phycic ability, witchcraft, ect. However, Conduit was pretty satisfying, in my point of view.

The reason why I don’t like the early episodes as much is because it seems that Scully is so closed minded. Looking at her now, and looking at her then is almost looking at two different people, and it frustrates me when she has such trouble believing. However, as Chris Carter said in his interview before Conduit, this episode is a sort of turning point for Scully, a realization that her science is sometimes able to support Mulder’s theories, and so, in Conduit, Scully is able to realize that Mulder isn’t a complete nut. I am refering to, of course, the very end of the ep, when Scully realizes Ruby displayed symtoms of being in a state of weightlessness.

Mulder has also changed tremendously since this ep. I am so glad to see that Mulder has gotten his clousure in seson seven. It’s incredible how much turmoil was illuminating through Mulder during this ep. (BTW, good job DD!!).

I was touched by two scenes in particular. First, in the car, when Mulder tells Scully about his childhood ritual, and how he is still “walking into the same room.” Incredibly touching. And of course, I am sure we all felt something during the last scene in the church. I swear, I was almost getting choked up listening to that recordng, and Mulder’s “I want to believe.” So do I ....
