Contrary to expectations, the local spectators didn't exactly crowd in to encourage the gymnasts. Admission was free the first day of competition, but still only about 1500 people showed up. There weren't that many great performances, despite what the high scores would indicate. Head coach Octavian Belu also admitted this "As a general rule, I don't pay attention to Nationals scores, because they can be inflated (by the judges). The best example is Marius Urzica's score of 9.95 on pommel horse. Far be it from me to say he didn't deserve this score, but in international competitions you don't get that close to scoring 10's. As far as the girls are concerned, I am pleased with their performances, even if we still have a few things to work on." It looks like the Olympic team will be the same as previously announced Simona Am‰nar, Maria Olaru, Claudia Presecan, Andreea RÐducan, Alexandra IsÐrescu, Loredana Boboc and Andreea Ulmeanu

Not everyone was happy with the competition organization. The sound system didn't work veey well, causing confusion about competitors' names, and the announcer was corrected by the spectators on several occasions.

Some of the gymnasts from CSS Onesti had to check out of their hotel rooms 4 hours before the competition. They moved their bags in the bus, or even in the competition venue, where they took turn watching over their things, until they left Sibiu.
