Men’s Team Psychological Profiles

22-year old Diana Burluc has been working as the psychologist of the men’s team since last November. “When Mr. Grecu asked for a team psychologist, I was sent there,” she explains. At first, all the guys gave me knowing smiles, meaning 'what’s this chick doing here?' After a brief period of picking on each other and getting used to one another, Diana managed to get along well with all the gymnasts. “The fact that we’re close in age helped me," she added.

Diana started a writing a psychological evaluation of the team in January 2002. She noticed all the gymnasts are outgoing and open to discussions on any topic. “Their psychological traits are different than those of everyday people. They have an excellent ability to concentrate, high tolerance to frustrating situations, strong will and perseverance, along with a very balanced emotional state,” she added. Each gymnast has his own file, updated on a weekly basis, and read by coach Dan Grecu. We included the psychological profiles for the five gymnasts who competed in Patras.

Marius Urzică Extremely determined in everything he does. He’s capable of putting forth continuous effort. Has a very developed team spirit, being the main motivator on the team.
Marian Drăgulescu He’s the introverted type. A natural talent
Dan Potra He’s more introverted, like Drăgulescu. Hard working athlete. Seems to be fairly sensitive from a psychological standpoint.
Ioan Suciu Always favors dialogue. Very open to tackling any problem, even the most difficult ones he has to deal with.
Constantin Covaci Strong-willed in everything he does. He doesn’t like abandoning an idea once he sets a goal. His energy level is well above normal limits.
