Ever wanted to write a fan letter to a Romanian gymnast, and wish her good luck in Romanian? Hopefully, this should help. The form in parenthesis is the female form.

What does CSS mean?
So, what does that CSS in front of a club's name stand for? CSS is short for Clubul Sportiv Scolar (school sports club). Some of the clubs are just CS (Clubul Sportiv), like Petrolul Ploiesti. Deva's official name is Grupul Sportiv Scolar Cetate Deva, but everyone calls it CSS Deva.
What about a club's name?
Clubs' names also mean something. Most of them have names that reflect a characteristic of the city where they're from

Does ABC's name mean anything in Romanian?
Most Romanian first names don't have any special meaning. Some of them are names of flowers (Violeta, Lăcrămioara, Viorica) or cities (Contanta). OTOH, some of their last names do have some meaning.

Why is the name Andreea spelled with two "e" 's?
Andreea is a girls' name. Andrea means "knitting needle" in Romanian. I have a hard time thinking of anyone who would want to be called that.
Are Corina/Teodora/Emanuela Ungureanu related?
No, they're not realated. Ungureanu just happens to be a very common name in Romania. Aurelia Dobre who competed in the 70's, and the Aurelia Dobre of the late 80's are again not related to each other.
Do you have SoandSo's home/e-mail address address?
First of all, there was no Internet access at Deva last I heard. Even if I had a gymnast's home or e-mail address, which I don't, I would not post it on the web, or distribute it through e-mail. Gymnasts are entitled to their privacy, just like anyone else. If you would like to write to them, try the Deva address.
