Day 9
We stopped by the Antes House for a personal tour of the place.  The historical society that runs it only opens it by appointment.  I was suprised they were willing to do so for us being I only called last night to see if we could get in.  Very interesting place.  There is a lot of the wood work (not ornate) that is still there and intact.  There is also a lot that has been replaced due to need.  They are restoring it to how it looked when it was built.  A family had lived in it until the 1950's and had done some poor modifications on the place.  Very interesting architecture and history.  At one point it was used as a multi-racial and multi-cultural school house.

We are in Philly today.  We wound up booking a hotel about 30 minutes away in NJ in order to not pay obnoxious amounts of money to stay near Philly.  Instead we get to bend over and take it you know where every time we cross the bridge to get to Philly, stupid $3 toll.  BTW: the city is dirty and stinky.

The historic district was cool, even if it was dirty.  Liberty hall looked really out of place amongst the taller and more modern looking buildings.  It is for the most part kept up very well.  The liberty bell was also a nice display.  Not to cluttered with useless information but not so sparce as to be annoying.

We walked around downtown a bit being most of the exhibits close at 5pm.  We walked down to the city hall, looks like it was built to be the state capitol or something.  It was simply huge!
