The Vanishings

Chapter Six

~By Gina-chan~

Rapyd, Ryver and Vegeta-chan landed with a thud on the ground. Rapyd quickly picked herself off the ground and brushed herself off. She looked around and grinned.

“I guess we’re safe here,” Rapyd said. They had landed in an area of trees at the foot of a tall mountain. Vegeta-chan’s ears perked up as he heard a rustle in the trees.

“AYAH!” a man, barely in his twenties, yelled; jumping down from a tree, sword withdrawn. He landed in front of the group. Rapyd quickly fell back down on the ground.

“AAAHH!” Rapyd screamed, as Vegeta-chan moved in front of her, so he could block her from any attacks the man had in store.

“What do you want?” Vegeta-chan asked. The man didn’t answer. Instead, he ran up to Vegeta-chan and took a slice at Vegeta-chan with his sword. Vegeta-chan grabbed the sword, and with the man still holding on to it, threw the sword and the man on the ground.

“Yeay yeay yeay yeay!” Rapyd said, jumping up and down behind Vegeta-chan. She put her hands on his shoulders, which made Vegeta-chan’s cheeks blush a bright pink.

“Uh, you two, I don’t think it’s quiet over yet,” Ryver said, who was standing off to the side. And in fact, it wasn’t over, for the man was now getting up and covered with scrapes and bruises.

“You have tread on my village’s sacred woods. That is punishable by death,” the man muttered.

“Heh. Hardly. We haven’t walked anywhere,” Vegeta-chan said. Rapyd promptly fell down again.

“I don’t have time for your feeble jokes,” the man replied.

“Hey wait a second,” Rapyd said, pulling out the disk radar watch. She looked down at it as it bleeped a couple times.

“Does your village happen to be over there?” Rapyd said, pointing to her left. The man looked over in the direction Rapyd was pointing and blinked a couple of times.

“Uh, yea. That’s exactly where it is,” the man replied.

“Great! That’s where the disk is!” Rapyd exclaimed, running towards the village.

“Hey wait! I haven’t killed you yet!” the man yelled. Vegeta-chan ran after Rapyd and dragged her back to where everyone else was standing. The man scowled down at Rapyd and then smiled. He put his sword away.

“You just might be the one,” he said, and started walking towards the village. Rapyd ran after him.

“Hey! What do you mean ‘the one’?” She yelled at him. Vegeta-chan and Ryver flew after them. The man just smiled and kept walking. After walking a short distance, they reached the village, which seemed to be enclosed by a tall, wooden fence. The man waved to the guards up in the guard towers, and they opened the big wooden doors. The group walked along into the village as the doors shut behind them. Vegeta-chan and Ryver landed behind Rapyd and the man. After walking a short distance, the man stopped in front of a house and walked in. The others followed him.

“Now I’m sure you all are wondering why I brought you here, when, just awhile ago, I said I wanted to kill you,” the man said. Rapyd, Vegeta-chan, and Ryver nodded.

“Yeah. But first, can you tell us your name?” Rapyd asked. The man smiled.

“Cojiro. You can call me Cojiro,” Cojiro replied. “Now, on to the reason I brought you here. When this girl here with the monkey tail-“

       “Rapyd,” Rapyd interrupted.

“When Rapyd said that this town was where a disk was, I couldn’t help but think that she’s ‘the one’. ‘The one’, also happened to be a girl with a monkey tail. A girl named Rurika. She came here around 600 years ago searching for the very same thing you three are searching for. A disk,” Cojiro explained.

“Hey! Isn’t Rurika the first Dimension Key holder that Ferio was talking about?!” Ryver exclaimed. Rapyd’s eyes lit up.

       “Yeah! You’re right!” Rapyd said.

“Anyway, this village has always kept the disk hidden for the day when another girl with a tail shows up looking for it. And that day has come,” Cojiro said. “Follow me,” he said, walking back out of the house. Rapyd, Vegeta-chan, and Ryver followed him back out in to the streets of the village. They walked down the street towards a large wooden building.

“Here we are,” Cojiro said, opening the door to the building. They all walked in, and there, they saw, on a pedestal, was the first disk. Rapyd gasped.

“Is that really it?” Rapyd wondered.

“Check the radar to be sure,” Vegeta-chan offered. Rapyd nodded and pulled out the watch-like radar. She looked down at it.

       “Yep. It is,” Rapyd confirmed.

“So do we just go up there and get it, or what?” Ryver asked.

“There’s no one stopping you,” Cojiro said.

“Okay. Rapyd, you should be the one to go get it,” Ryver said. Rapyd nodded again and walked over to the pedestal, and grabbed the disk up.

“Yay! Yay! Yay!” Rapyd said, jumping up and down. She ran back down to Ryver, Vegeta-chan, and Cojiro.

“Well, I guess we have to go,” Rapyd said sadly. “We’re kind of in a hurry because we have to save someone.”

       “I understand,” Cojiro said.

“Okay. Vegeta-chan, you get to carry the disk!” Rapyd said, putting the disk in Vegeta-chan’s hands.

“W-what? Why can’t you carry it?” Vegeta-chan exclaimed. Rapyd smiled, holding the Dimension Key.

“Because I have to use this!” Rapyd said. “Bye Cojiro! Hope we can come and visit you!” Rapyd waved.

“Bye! Hope you save everyone!” Cojiro said, as they ran out the door. Rapyd stopped outside.

“That’s one down!” she said excitedly.  Suddenly, a figure flew down from the sky and landed in front of them.

“Who’s that?” Ryver said, not taking her eyes off the figure. The figure walked closer, and they could see that it was a man, with shaggy black hair and red eyes. Rapyd’s eyes furrowed. The man lifted his hand up and started forming an energy ball in it. Ryver, Rapyd and Vegeta-chan quickly moved into fighting stance. The man smirked, and fired a large energy blast straight at Rapyd…
