Happy New Year, Everyone!! |
Winter 2002: And not much of one, I might add. We've seen Cape Cod snow, but only for moments at a time. Hi, Emily Grace here. Yes, I know...it's been forever since our last page. Curly and the Bald Guy are busy at work, and me, well, I've been spending a bit of time in self-examination. Mr. Bush says we should find Our Better Dogs Inside...and be all we can be, or something like that...so I started wondering what a humble Brown Girl could do. |
I mean, really...I live in Wellfleet, it's winter. What else should I be thinking about...? There's certainly nothing much to do here. And then it hit me; there is something I've never done before. I got lucky with airfares on the Internet (but you'd be amazed how tricky the photo ID was...)... I left a note for My Guys, and off I went...following my dreams and heading west to... |
LIGHT THE FIRE WITHIN |
Sad to say, I missed the Opening Ceremonies. There was a minor security snafu at the airport which took me a little while to sort out. So at first I just sort of slouched around the Olympic Village, hooking up with some network pals. They were the ones who introduced me to Bode Miller, the New Hampshire ski hunk. We were throwing back a few root beers at the Lodge in the Athlete's Village the night before his big run. |
It worked out good for Bode, too, since he was completely overwhelmed by the media after he won the Silver the next day. Fortunately, I was there to step in and manage their questions. I can't believe he hadn't hire a publicist before now. Ah well, I'm just glad I could help out. I offered to go with him to do Jay Leno, but he said he was "All Set," and so, off I went, chasing my dreams. |
I have to say, they're a friendly bunch in the "O.V."(that's what Mitt calls it, anyway...) ...here's a shot of me and Tiffany Clark sharing practice ice. She was so gracious: even though she was working out the bugs in her long program, she still let me have the ice all to myself. Okay, so I'm not Sonja Henny...but pretty good form, I think, for a Brown Girl without skates. |

I'm really having a great time hanging out with all the gang on Team USA, though I've met a bunch of people from all over the world. The only downside is the food: all they have here is hotdogs, which is just fine with me...but they ran out!! A few fingers were pointed in my direction. Perhaps I ought to have RSVPed.... |
Well, as you can see, I'm having a great time!! Don't worry about me, Guys!! Tell George I'll be home after the Closing Ceremonies!! Gotta run: Kristie and I are supposed to pass out pins at the Skating Hall, and we're planning to meet up with some of the guys from the Ski Team. USA!! USA!! USA!! |
